  1. Some laptops output digital audio from the 3.5mm audio port, that would be the easiest solution, only a 3.5mm to rca cable or optical audio is required, even if your laptop supports it, it might not be able to do 5.1. You can check the laptop manual for more information. z906 manual: https://www.logitech.com/assets/36226/z906620-002920006ug403.pdf On page 10, number 5 is a digital port even tough it uses the same connector as the analog ports. The cables: https://www.amazon.com/Toslink-3-5mm-Digital-Optical-SPDIF/dp/B077YKNVMQ or https://www.amazon.com/SPDIF-Digital-Coaxial-Audio-Cable/dp/B01LZCJX1Y In case your laptop doesn't support digital audio, there's always hdmi, the z906 needs to be connected to a tv, a receiver or something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Optical-ROOFULL-Extractor-Splitter-Converter/dp/B01LL5RI3Y, this might not work without connecting to an external display, not sure.... With usb you have 2 choises, usb to digital audio (opitical or s/pdif) or usb to analog 5.1. Ideally you want to keep the sound digital and let the z906 take care of the digital to analog conversion, some usb sound cards might not support 5.1 over digital audio. The first sound card you linked will work with both usb methods, the second won't. The first sound card will need a cable like this for analog: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-3-5mm-2-Male-Adapter-Cable/dp/B01D5H8JW0/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_23_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NFDHTD44FNYYMM527D4J
  2. Not ideal, but it is a start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yza-fRX6Dc
  3. FRAPS can definitely measure average FPS, click on the FPS tab, then you chose a benchmarking hotkey. Open the game click on the key you chose to start, click again to finish. FRAPS will generate a file with the average FPS among other information. Maybe you are referring to advanced frame pacing tools like the ones used by DigitalFoundry or PcPer, the latter uses nvidia FCAT which is available to download at https://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/fcat, to properly use it you need a very expensive setup, although you can use shadowplay for less precise results, as it affects gaming performance. tutorials for fraps benchmarking: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fraps+benchmarking+tutorial
  4. example: source: http://www.hdtune.com/ The y axis represents the transfer speed(blue line)/ access time(yellow dots), the x axis the amount of data in the disk. As you can see the transfer speed went from 171 to 85, on a empty drive to a full one. Seeing your screenshots for a second time there're so many variables, just because a drive is 7200 rpm doesn't mean it is fast, for starters the platter density of a 250gb 3.5 hdd is very low and that impacts performance, the drive's age is also important.
  5. As drivers fill up their performance decreases abruptly, also there's fragmentation to take in account, if you want the true performance of a drive, format it first, this way is pointless...
  6. Are these new parts, or they have been used before?
  7. it's this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51e06fOWfHL._SL1100_.jpg it beeps the error code, some cases have it, some motherboards come with one, too.
  8. Is the beeper plug in, any beeps? Does it turn off and on a cycle? Any lights on the motherboard?
  9. So the fan spins?, what CPU is that, if it it is an APU take out the gpu and connect the video connectors directly on the motherboard.
  10. Don't bother, too expensive and complicated. To keep things simple, if you want remote access to a computer use team viewer, if they are in the same network and you want to game use steam in-home streaming. And the HDMI dongle in the video is not a wireless transmitter it's something else entirely, basically a virtual monitor so he didn't have to plug monitors to every video card (as steam in-home streaming requiries).

  12. On that price range would go for an ips tbh.
  13. Install older ones or even beta drivers, experiment changing resolutions.
  14. Do you want image quality or responsiveness?
