WHY IN THE HECK does Mass Effect Andromeda get so much crap? Yes, the optimization leaves a lot to be desired, but the game is supremely good, imo.

I haven't played the trilogy, but even then the game in no way deserves all the negative things I've been hearing/reading about it.

I thought the gameplay was rather meh compared to the rest of the series. I bought it, played it for maybe 15 minutes and never picked it up again. It just wasn't up to the rest of the series.

all memes aside, i really enjoyed the game.

THIS ARTICLE, while lengthy talks about what went wrong during development. basically it was a new studio, that was inexperienced, mismanaged, spread too thin.

basically they had 18 months to fix 5 years worth of wasted time. which resulted and a shitty story, massive bugs, and awful animations.

@dizmo "played it for 15 minutes and never picked it up again"

That was me with Mass Effect 3. The controls are horrible

I have 61 hours on MEA, and im still not done. Yeah, the combat could be better(the only powers I use are the Remnant VI and Assault turret) and like I said before the animation , especially when going down vaults, leaves a lot to be desired(due to the Frostbite problems the article is referring to). I don't really watch TOOO closely to the animations but I do actually see the shoddy animations.

However, it does not ruin the experience for me

Damn, that's a lot of playtime. I might have to try and give it another go, but I was just so unimpressed with it to start off with.

The multiplayer is just painful as well. I think that's what made me lose interest the most.

I never played multiplayer, not a fan of multiplayer shooters and stuff like that(except World of Warships).

(That's also why I downgraded from Titanfall ultimate edition to regular. Ultimate edition literally only affects multiplayer.)

The thing is, I haven't played the other Mass Effect games so if you're looking for story im not sure how much the story applies to MEA. I love the MEA story, it goes so deep especially through some of the side quests (I'm a bid fan of doing side quests) but im not sure where it within the Mass Effect trilogy

Andromeda takes place after the events of Mass Effect 2,  but in a separate galaxy.

you hear a lot of references to events that were actually solved in the 3rd game, but the characters dont know that because they left the galaxy so they werent there to witness it. stuff like the Krogan Genophage, which was a huge deal in ME3, but doesnt matter in the slightest in Andromeda because apparently their bodies adapted while they were in cryosleep. which is bullshit and lazy storytelling(which is the case with most of the game).

if you havent played the first 3, you will most likely love Andromeda.  but please play the others when you're done. (first one doesnt hold up very well, but the other 2 are great)
