  1. even then I don't really see the point of buying an ssd to keep it external, it's much more convenient to put an ssd in there and use the hdd for backup/media when needed. I don't see any pros in doing what you suggest except for the fact that I wouldn't have to tinker with the hardware which I'm pretty confortable with.
  2. I don't see any good reason to get one: 1) it runs through usb 3 at best, which is much slower than sata3 2) you cannot run your os on it, so no extra ssd performance there 3) you have to carry it everywhere you go, basically defeating the main purpose of this laptop which is portability
  3. I'm curious: in the review you said that the 200 $ storage is not upgradable, which makes sense because it's an emmc, but what about the 400$ one? Since it has a normal (I suppose) 2.5'' HDD shouldn't it be able to get a upgrade ? What is the internal upgradability of the 400$ one compared to the 200$ ? I'm looking to buy one and this would be very helpful, thanks!
  4. I don't think you can do it, although it is theoretically possible if your laptop had one of those dedicated but not soldered gpus that could be taken off for repair. But than again you would have a lot of other problems like powering the 7850 and so on.
  5. hey, so first of all I suggest you to buy the oem key on ebay, you should get one for about 10$ which is a bargain. And about the psu 750w are overkill, a 550w supernova g2 will do the job more than fine with room to spare. I would put this money in a better monitor (maybe a 144 hz), a nvme ssd or maybe a better motherboard.
  6. hello guys, I am currently developing a case and I was wondering what is the usual lenght of the tube of a 120mm AIO cooler such as the Corsair H80 or cooler master seidon? I am not sure if the rad spot is gonna be near enough to the cpu, thanks everyone
  7. hello, I was wondering if there's a website which collects infos about the overclocking of many chips so than it can tell you how good of a overclocker your chip is. for example it tells you how many 4790k reach 4.5 GHz at a certain voltage and so on
  8. no it's not. Usually ram has lifetime warranty
  9. honestly if you only play cs go you don't really need an upgrade, but if you think it's time to give it a refresh I would go with a better processor that fits your mobo (like an i5 3470) and a better graphics card like an rx 470/480 (assuming you have a psu that handles it). This is the maximus upgrade I would reccomend considering your current config, it also saves you some money as it should come at around 250 bucks. if you really want to go full loaded and spend 500 bucks than you can do that but it would be more than a new build than an upgrade as you would be keeping only case psu and ssd. In that case I would go with a new 1151 mobo, 8gigs of ddr4 ram, an i5 7400 and an rx 480. honestly I don't think the extra performace gain (which shouldn't be that huge, or even noticeable, also considering your use) is worth it. On the plus side you get much newer hardware. It's up to you to decide. edit: I used usa/canada for price references, if you live in europe like I do, consider a ~20% increase
  10. I don't wanna alarm you guys but I used to have this problem as well on my 7950 , never done oc or anything on it. Well, yesterday after crashing it died completely.
  11. here's also cpu-z (at load nothing changes core voltage just bumps to 1.008)
  12. thanks for the reply, I'll attach the idle reads and the llc calibration setting (which I have on level one because the mobo reccomends it for oc). I'm not sure if it's a software error or not, I began digging into it because I noticed that every other g3258 owner got a much better oc than mine at the same voltage
  13. it's honestly hard to tell unless you own the case, for example I have a 400c with a 360mm rad in the front, but I'm 100% sure that it wouldn't fit a 240 + 120 rad cause of the extra space that the water in/out take on the radiator. you're probably looking for a case which can fit a 480mm rad in the front, which is some full tower cases. Anyhow I would just go with the 240 in the front and the 120 in the back, it's much easier to do and you can choose from a lot of cases, and also the difference in temperatures should be negligible as long as you keep a decent airflow.
  14. hello, I am new to overclocking. So basically I decided to get some cheapo Pentium G3258 to put on my Asrock z97 extreme 4 and start ocing. there is something that has been bumming me from the very beginning! How is it that in the bios I adjust the Vcore value to 1.34, but than when I benchmark the only value which is rock solid on 1.35 V is VID while Vcore is near 1V ? this happens white every temp/voltage software I use, from OCCT to HWmonitor etc I am obviously missing something here, could someone be so kind to explain to me what? thanks to anyone who will respond
