After disabling CBS I didn't get any BSOD while playing games. This seems to be a common problem with 5th gen Ryzen processors

Next time installing Windows 10 disconnect every drive except the one you want it to be installed on. During install Windows might want to put the boot partition on an other drive despite not selecting that. I know this by experience when I also had an HDD connected during install and the boot partition was put there instead of the SSD. Luckily I noticed and did a reinstall with a disconnected HDD.

any program that works like photorec where it looks for signatures won't get file directories due to how they work.

Your best option is really to pay for r-studio, there really isn't much free software out there, and its expensive to make this software.

Otherwise, keep trying programs until you find one you like.

Maybe it recovered the partition but it couldn't recover the File System.

I will openly admit, I'm not sure where to go from here. At this point all I can do is guess the SSD may have experienced some physical damage but I personally can't verify that unless we wiped the drive and reinstalled an OS fresh to see if it behaves but obviously if we do that we can't recover the data so I need to accept the fact that this is now over my head. Sorry.

But I won't just up and leave you to figure this out on your own. Some people here definitely have better hand on experience in this department than I do.

If he's up for it I can poke one guy who might know where to go from here. @Electronics Wizardy

    Summarising where we're at:
The SSD was working until a power outage now it no longer boots. Being connected to another computer via SATA stops the PC from POSTing Being connected via USB adapter freezes Windows when connected. We've just tried a program called Teatdisk on GNU/Linux to try to make an image of the drive but it appears to have not worked correctly. What looks like recovering the partition has revealed what looks like a corrupt NTFS File System. Data on the SSD is not irreplaceable but if it can be helped not starting from scratch is preferred assuming this isn't actually a hardware failure. I'll stick around in the off chance I do have anything useful to contribute.

With Ubuntu or other Linux variants you sometimes have to manually mount the disk via CLI so Windows might be your better bet here. If Disk Management has the drive show up as unpartitioned there's a strong chance the partition data was corrupted when the power went out.

You may still be able to do data recovery though so long as new data hasn't been written to the disk.

Update on M2, it seems to be in fact a bit downgraded internally in comparison with FM2 so with such high-end GPU i'd probably recommend no lower than FM2. Also, i recall that there were also Corsair RMx 550W i forgot about, for smth like 750 HRK which has 10y warranty, i.e cheaper alternative to Seasonic Focus based units that have 10y warranty too if you care about that.

    Look at these :
    SilentiumPC Supremo M2, 522 HRK
    SilentiumPC Supremo FM2, 632 HRK
    XFX XTR2, 648 HRK

SPC Supremos are identical inside aside of full modularity on FM2, very good performing PSU, full Japanese caps, hydrodynamic fan, i'd definitely recommend these PSUs.
Or XFX XTR2 which are Seasonic Focus internally so the only reason to pay more for other rebrands of this platform (Riotoro G2, Antec HCG Gold) or OEM version itself are longer warranty (10 years vs 5 years).

Thank you all for your recommendations and suggestions.

I bought this as a prebuilt PC two years ago (it was on a big discount). Since the PSU is not from a reputable brand and the warranty on it has ran out, I would like to buy a new one. I don't want it to ruin my other components.

Which PSU would you recommend for me to buy for this build. I was thinking about buying BE QUIET Dark Power Pro 11, but I'm not sure if there are better ones for that price.

Okay, the Dark Power Pro 11 is a little overkill for your needs. If you are from the US, you can easily find a reliable 80+ Gold PSU for less than $100. You can find the BitFenix Whipser M 550w and the BitFenix Formula Gold 650w for around $90. And if you want 80+ Platinum, the SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Platinum 550w is $115 at B&H.

I took a gander at the CTG-550C PSU, it strikes me as odd that the PSU isn't doesn't have a formal "80+ Bronze/Silver Certified Efficiency" tag, yet advertises itself as "85+ Efficiency." The other thing I noted was its rather short one-year warranty, although I suppose the PSU is meant to be cheap affordable.

If you can find it within your budget to upgrade your PSU, I'd definitely go for that route. Some things about the CTG-550C PSU rub me a little odd.

It's just a fake logo they put on the that looks like the 80+ logo to trick people in to thinking they're 80+ certified. Most people just see the bronze coloured badge and think "oh that's an 80+ bronze power supply".

    PSU bad advices 101 :
    - Get more wattage, it would be better !
    - Replace the fan with Noctua, it would be better !

No, higher wattage PSU doesn't equal better quality. And please, don't replace anything in your PSU if you don't know what are you doing unless it's absolutely necessary.

Judging by the internals shots this PSU looks to be based on some old double mag amp platform from High Power \ Sirfa, i didn't dig further because double mag amp rarely have very spectacular crossloads performance so i would recommend to replace it. But if you don't plan on upgrading this PC anywhere soon or don't have money to replace PSU right now, it'll do i guess.

You'll be able to run games at 4k 60, but newer games you might struggle in unless you turn down graphics settings.

Remember as well you'll have to use scaling in windows to make text readable at 4k, might not be ideal for programming. at 1440p it won't be much of an issue, and as i said in my previous reply i think refresh rate makes a bigger difference in games and in programs than higher res, everything just feels super smooth

and in games like lol, overwatch, etc that are easier to run you can get 165fps and it's easy to upgrade to a 3'rd gen ryzen in the future if you need more fps for newer games, but you can still run games fine if you're under 165fps with that refresh rate, it will just be like using a lower hertz panel

basically, i'd go for the 1440p 165hz any day of the week
