  1. GPU market really is insane right now. But yeah that's how I always end up, when I went 1440p 144hz that was the end for my 980 ti lol.
  2. Thanks! And yeah it's why I'm on the fence, unless the difference is worth it I'm not sure I want to shell out that much. A big part of this was spurred by the fact that replacing my side monitor 1 to 1 with a new 1440p 60 hz IPS monitor to avoid a downgrade would cost me ~$200, and at that point I figured if I was going to lay out a few hundred anyways why not save up a bit more and give myself a real upgrade on my primary monitor and get some enjoyment out of it. I just want to be sure before I lay out that extra money.
  3. Thanks! Yeah the secondary monitor isn't a huge concern for me here, it's just to throw up a twitch stream or discord call on the side while I'm doing other things on the primary monitor. My current side display is an old 1440p 60 Hz IPS panel that I used as my primary monitor years back, but it's finally dying. I'd be doing any gaming or serious content viewing on the primary monitor.
  4. I currently am running a Viotek GN27D, it's a 1440p 144z VA panel. I'm looking to upgrade my main monitor to the GP850. Has anyone here done a similar upgrade? Is it worth it or am I better off with something like a Odyssey G7 or just waiting for 4K high refresh rate to become more accessible and easier to run? If I bought the GP850 I'd likely replace my dying side monitor with the GN27D, or sell it and buy a cheap flat panel to replace that side monitor. I'm confident that my build can push the 1440p 180hz to take advantage of the GP850, I just don't want to drop $500 on an incremental upgrade that I'll regret later. If it seems like it's not worth it I'll probably just buy a cheap flat panel and replace my side monitor. Thanks for your input!
  5. Nevermind, it was an MBR vs GPT option, which seems odd, but using mbr2gpt from the command line seems to have fixed my issue.
  6. So I picked up a 5800x for a good price and am selling off my 3700x to a friend for an upgrade. I installed the 5800x on my MSI X470 M7 AC running the latest bios, 7B77v1H1(Beta version), which is the only version they have that supports Zen 3 and uses AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.1.0.0 Patch D. The system posts fine, and detects all my drives, but I can't set the BBS boot order for hard drives. This was not an issue on my 3700x on the same bios revision prior to the install and the CPU was the only change made to the system. If I have a USB plugged in I can set the USB bbs boot order, but the option is not visible for hard disks. I have tried clearing the CMOS and reflashing the bios, but neither seems to have helped, I have attached pictures of the drives being detected, my boot configuration, and the boot order showing up for USB but not hard drives. Edited to add system specs: Ryzen 7 5800x 32 Gb Ram MSI x470 M7 AC Rtx 3080 850 W PSU
  7. Thanks for the input all, @Zando Bob thanks for the in depth pictures as well, as long as the Radeon VII seller doesn't flake I think I will be going that route, I always thought they were awesome cards and i love to tinker with my hardware, plus I'd be happy to water cool it a bit down the line.
  8. I was planning on upgrading my 980 Ti to either a 5700 XT or a 2070 Super, possibly a used 2080 if the deal is good enough, and I came across a like-new Radeon VII for $450. Is it worth going for that over the 5700 XT or 2070 Super at that price? I'm aware of the potential noise and heat issues with the VII, and I know I can get the 5700 XT for less, but with tax the 5700 XT will cost roughly the same or more than the VII. Warranty is a potential factor but my last two cards have been second-hand and had no issues so its not a massive concern of mine either. Any advice? Edit: I'm using the system to game at 1440p 144 Hz with a Ryzen 7 3700x build for context.
  9. I know it's not optimal, but my budget doesn't support a full custom loop at this point, but I have a Corsair H50 and am upgrading to a 980 TI with this cooler (https://www.adorama.com/ev400hy5188.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw1PPJBRDq9dGHivbXmhcSJAATZd_BtlqA5v_yI1DujfQxinzqcrOSon4JNdyKleLwhvzDWRoCw-7w_wcB) that I picked up for cheap from a friend. I currently have an NZXT S340, with the setup in the picture, the front two fans are intake and the top and rear are exhaust. I am looking for advice on what the optimal placement of both radiators would be to get the best performance possible, as well as avoid overheating my case too much. There's not too much room for a radiator on top, but I can try and squeeze it in if that would work best. Thanks!
  10. That's okay, thanks for trying anyways, it's really not that important in the end
  11. I don't think so, the M keys aren't independent keys on the keyboard, they are bound to other keys as macros I think

    Software

  13. Yeah this software has a reputation for being junk, and it has no options to allow me to do that, I can bind macros and common functions such as cut paste and print to the keys.
  14. I can set macros on the keys, but I'm not sure how to use that to set it so i don't need the Fn keys
