  1. Hi, I'm buying used parts for a pc I'm currently building and there is a guy in my local area selling a R5 4600g from his old HP prebuilt machine. The price is really good, I'm just wary that some vendors, like Lenovo, are known to lock the CPU to their motherboard. Does anyone now if HP have done anything similar with their prebuilts or should it be ok? Thanks
  2. Hello, I'm building a pc on a pretty small budget (max 250 euros) and I found a guy selling a i7 8700, a mobo and 32gb ddr4 for 120 in my area. I have my eye on a deal for an rx 480 8gb for 70 and I was just wondering if the 480 would be a bottleneck and I'd be better off finding a more balanced system or if it won't be a problem. Thanks
  3. The 1070 ti does outperform the 1070 by quite a margin, so I think the price/performance is still good. As for a 6600, I haven't been able to find one for anything less than €250 anywhere. I don't think GPU prices have dropped in Europe anywhere near as much as in the US. Edit: I have found some 5700xt's for around 200, but that's about a 25% performance gain for 25% price, so by that metric the 1070 ti, is still a "fair" price
  4. Hello, I'm in the market for a GPU and have found a couple of good deals on the local second hand marketplace, namely a Rx 480 8gb (90), a Vega 56 (125), a 980ti (130) and a 1070ti (150). Looking at reviews, the price per performance on these is very close, so I'm just wondering if there are any other things I might be missing about these cards that might differentiate them. Thanks : )
  5. Hello I bought a refurbished HP probook x360 435 g8 for uni and now recently decided to do some light gaming on it in my free time, mainly some older games like the Witcher 2 and Fallout 3. However, I've noticed that the frame rates I've been getting have been way lower than they should be based off of reports I've found. For example, Witcher 2 ran at 40 fps at 720p lowest settings, while I've seen benchmarks of the Witcher 3 at 50 fps at 1080p low/medium. Likewise, fallout 3 would struggle to maintain 60 at 1080p high. I am plugged in at the wall and have turned the windows power settings to performance, but it didn't make much of a difference at all. Also, the laptop does not appear to be Thermal Throttling. Looking for any suggestions. Thanks Specs: Ryzen 7 5850u 16gb Ram (Single Stick) Edit: I assume it might be some sort of weird bios power limit setting, but because it is a business orientated laptop and I bought it refurbished there is a password blocking bios access which I apparantly have to contact Hp to remove, which I am trying to do.
  6. Hello, Looking to buy some wireless headphones for use in my shared accomodation and for studying at libraries and stuff. My sister has a pair of the new Jabra move headphones and I was going to purchase them after having tried them out, but wanted to find out if there are any other headphones on the market that fill the lightweight, small, wireless niche at around 75 euros or less that I should also be considering. Thanks for your help : )
  7. ? I don't know if I misunderstood, but I haven't been looking for a laptop with a dedicated GPU. Originally I was looking for a laptop with thunderbolt, so I could have the longer battery life for daily use and then I'd be able to connect a External GPU when I got home from a dock for heavier use. But after I couldn't find any in my budget I moved on from that idea, but I still haven't been looking for one with a dedicated gpu. (If you know of any that fit my original plan, I'd be happy to know )
  8. Well, my original plan was to get a laptop with a 12th gen chip and thunderbolt, so I could get the battery life benefits for normal use and down the line I could get an eGPU dock to slot my gpu from pc in, but I haven't been able to find any laptops with a 12th gen chip and thunderbolt that fits my budget (€900).
  9. Well I have been looking at entire packages, but in the most case, I've found that at the price point I'm looking at almost everything has 16gb if ram, a 512gb (sometimes bigger) nvme SSD, a 1080p IPS display etc. So the main difference is usually the included CPU. Obviously the build quality and stuff is gonna be different, but I'm gonna take that into account on a case by case basis
  10. Wait, so does the 5600u perform considerably better than even the i7 1255u? Edit: Oh also, the Ryzen onboard graphics are considerably better than the Intel ones yeah?
  11. Hello I've read and seen a lot of things saying that intel 12th gen is much better than Ryzen 5000 in laptops. Is there really much if a difference going between something like a 5600u and a 12450H (which appear to have a similar price point, maybe the and chip is a bit cheaper). For context, this will be used for uni work (Mathematical Sciences and Physics), light gaming and some hobby level python coding. Are the advantages of 12th gen overblown and is it worth the price jump? Thanks
  12. That would be a great option, but as the other guy said, that offer is unfortunately not available in my region
  13. I don't know if I misunderstood your message, but when I said eGPU I mean one you connect externally via a thunderbolt port. Just a bit confused by "you'll only find bricks that you'll have to log around". I don't mind not having a dedicated gpu in the laptop itself (Edit: cause I have a GPU I can take out of my PC if I wanted to use an eGPU)
  14. Sorry for the delay, Live in Ireland, but I'm gonna Ng to study in the Netherlands, so I could send it to either realistically
