concinnity reacted to Sousuke in 23 Noctua fans? Well... yeaa! [Upgraded to 18 Cores]
I have to say what an impressive build but just for the amount of Noctua fans I had to make this:

Not if he keeps using Corsair fans.

I prefer spoilerless posts, I'd rather scroll than click on spoiler

I would love to get my mitts on a few dozen litres of Fluorinert. The coolant
would be more expensive than the PC it would be cooling (most likely), but
the possibilities it would offer... oh my!

concinnity reacted to alpenwasser in "Clean Build" by Viepert
I vote white LEDs, but then again I almost always do that.
The cleanliness on the M/B side really is pretty awesome. You could have
somebody look at the running rig and go "But the power isn't plugged in! "

concinnity reacted to alpenwasser in Project Mercury - Caselabs S3 | Watercooled | GTX Titan - Completed!
I must say I had to chuckle a bit when putting the last two posts into context:
Not that I disagree with your first statement, but you get my meaning I hope.
Interesting to hear about BP not being perfect, up until now I had heard nothing
but praise for them. Sadly, the fittings I'll need for my build are only made by
BP (at least I have so far not found any alternate source).
Have you had any thoughts as to possible alternatives?

RAM & Secondary Tubing Route
Quite a large update today compared to normal, well actually it should be larger if everything went right today..
So i bought myself a cheap graphics card so i could mount my waterblock on the Titan, but the card arrived dead, so i'll have to go through the process to get another one
Decided id pull the trigger and buy myself the EK Monarch RAM Waterblock - Good choice i think, adds extra detail to the tubing route once completed in my opinion.
This is the basic tubing route i intend to go with, i'll still have to spend a bit of time perfectly the tubing lengths once the build is nearing completion.
Also made myself a Himuro Mini 2.5" mounting bracket and once again sprayed with Matte Black paint, fits nice and snug
Finished sleeving all three of my current fans, two more to sleeve and route and then the fans are completed.
Few things still required to finish this build, the installation of the Titan Waterblock & I still need to create my PCIE cables
You might notice, I'm not much of a fan of too much color The red coolant & Plexiglass blocks will be more than enough once filled with EK Red Coolant.

Very interesting article, thanks for the link!
A few notes: Many of these issues will not be very relevant if you're just
doing a home server setup (for example, most things related to performance
will most likely be of little importance if you're building a media streaming
machine). It's still very good advice from what I can tell, but just as a
side note.
One thing I would definitely apply to my own rig which I have not done with
my current server is the ECC memory. When ZFS verifies your disk data and you
have a random bit flip in your memory, ZFS will likely think it has found
corrupt data and "correct" what's on your disk. ECC memory should prevent
that.
I can definitely recommend ZFS from the experiences I've made so far, but
I also recommend doing some proper reading up on it and making sure it's
a good fit for your needs before you go ahead and deploy it.
