  1. Are you sure that it is not the SD cart itself that is broken? A friend of mine had a P-500 or very similar LG phone for some reason the memory card didn't work, and when i ejected it i found the card to have a tiny crack that it some how must have gotten while the card was in the phone (he had never himself removed the card before an it was installed in the phone form the factory)
  2. In one episode of "The Linux action show" they talked about Linux (obviously) related drive rescue and cloning software. http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/40577/linux-drive-recovery-las-s27e10/ (Under the video there's show notes and links to various recovery software) (If I remember right they are all just boot disk, so that would still be "outside linux"?)
  3. make sure to check all cables. (if you already have done so then just ignore this)
  4. Just as you know it there already a thread for this http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/17966-rate-the-photo-above-you/
  5. Is it just me or is there northing that Windows NT can't run on? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_NT#Supported_platforms)
  6. He said that he is going to be upgrading his in roughly 2 years time. I'm not sure that in two years that there will be many motherboards with PCI (On a side note you can still get socket 1155 boards with ISA! http://www2.ibase.com.tw/productView.aspx?id=152#productview)
  7. Well even though the chances are slim are you sure its not just a SMC problem (that part that actually responds to the power button itself) You decide if you want to rule it out but you just might try: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
  8. Getting a L530 as my school laptop. Its exactly everything you need in a school laptop, and nothing you don't need which sadly means Intel HD4000 graphics. But again school isn't for gaming.
  9. 9/10 i also like clouds but i think that the left side of the image is kinda empty, and if the the dark cloud at the top wasn't there then i think you could see all the clouds in layers. I took this image right before the summer. And accidentally set the exposure +0.7 :( (Edit: If anyone cared to know I took this photo with my phone (Nokia 808) and later cropped and resized it in Paint.net)
  10. WD Black only seams to be nosily when seeking. But when they are... i would not call it silent to say the least. Its more the motor noise that interesting. There are many old HDDs which simply sound beautiful when they are running
  11. Would like to have on of them, just to hear how they sound
  12. On of my frind was going to buy an Asus PCI sound card instead of the PCIe version because it was a few *unit of currency* cheaper :D That's decently not future proofing.
  13. Yep check the PSU using this list: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/42440-readme-how-to-respond-to-a-no-post-or-no-power-up-situation/
  14. Gb/s is amount of data per second 256 Bits is the with of the bus that data can be transferred through. Think the amount of Bits as lanes on a highway. more lanes = more cars. and think of Gb/s as cars per second. So if you have fewer Bits but a higher memory clock, you can have the same amount of Gb/s As a very high amount of Bits but with a lower memory clock. BTW: The amount of Bits and Gb/s has nothing to do with how many GB of graphics memory the card has. Edit: With "clock speed" i refer to memory clock NOT GPU clock. Edit: changed "clock speed" to memory clock
  15. Only if your monitor has Display port (or mini display port) You can't get 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 with HDMI so you need to use Displat port
  16. But then again. that require way more powerful vibrations that you computer is probably ever going to be exposed to. On a side note on of my dads friends works with industrial gas engines. When they are going to test the engines they just slap a Thinkpad on top of the engine while it is running. (ofc. there is sensors and stuff. But more the fact of having a laptop on top of an engine while its running )
  17. I am going to assume that we are talking about an abnormal, but still not insane amount of vibration? With really really hard vibration you would shake everything to piece. (last time you took a jack hammer to you laptop? :D)
  18. I think that you should choose the HTC One since it seams to fit your needs. You say you like the build quality, you like the speakers, the screen, the more storage, longer battery etc So if the phone fits you the just get it. I was very sceptic getting my Nokia 808. But after i got i realized that it was exactly the phone that i wanted
  19. Waite for a teardown of "The New Nexus 7" Aka "Nexus 7 2013" or just troll ebay until they start to appear
  20. HDDs are the only thing i can think of. An ODD might not be able to read disks under heavy constant vibration Edit: BTW. No a water pump would not brake under vibration, although its probably not helping it.

They will probably keep you feet cold :D
  22. I really don't hope so :D (No they are more that likely total different companies )
