OMG,  I used to have this exact case.  Although I painted gray flames on the side and hot glued a skull to the front vents. Even wired red leds for the eyes that blinked with hdd activity.  I wish I still had that thing.  The CPU cooler I had sounded like jet engine though.

Oh the hours I spent playing Unreal Tournament 2004 on this thing.

I know ammo prices are up; but are we really reduced to mangling poor defenseless carrots now?

What caliber carrot?  .45 or thereabouts?  I'll guess 12 cm.

And now I really want to break out my Remington New Army.  If only I could get black powder anywhere.

I recently found another alternative at a random Goodwill.  I figure it was a waste of $8 but might be fun to tinker with.  Much to my surprise not only is the driver easy to find but was updated in 2020. Apparently it was a more popular device in Japan.

I was even more surprised to find ribbons weren't too hard to find at Amazon Japan.

The results are rather nice too!

I'm posting from the Pentium 4 again, but this time without bulging caps! Seems like it's all working, need to stress test. Oddity, but had this before, it keeps complaining about the time/date being incorrect but they're correctly set. Has a new CMOS battery so I'm not sure what's going on there.

Ok, just had to complain, now it reboots without bitchin about the clock thing. Running Prime95 currently, seems to be OK so far. Can't figure out how to see CPU temps in software on Linux for hardware this old, not even sure I saw temps in software in Windows either...

Well, I had a call-out earlier this week and on my way back I had a chance to stop at the Free-Geek in Vancouver... Picked up a Thinkpad 600X and a replacement motherboard for my IBM PC365.

The Thinkpad had the coating deteriorated and sticky so that was a chore to get rid of... lots of scrubbing with Windex and magic erasers. Replaced the cmos battery as well but I can't seem to get into the bios. Should be the F1 key on these but it'd not working.

The motherboard I have not tested yet but I believe Free-Geek tested it when it was pulled out of the machine. It's a dual socket 8 (Pentium Pro) with 4 168 pin ram slots, but it takes a funky EDO ram, not SD. Came with the ram slots full and a single Pentium Pro 200, 256K. It was sitting in a box on their shelf since 2018, I'm glad I happened to mention if they ever came across a board for one of those lmao. The Pentium Pro really is a physically massive chip and has considerable heft to it.

Paid $50CAD for each, so $112CAD total including tax. Not bad in my book.

That is an excellent budget power supply.  By not skimping they mean to stick with known name brand PSUs and not the $20 cheap crap they sell.  The main worry is improper voltage control leading to unstable operation or even damage in extreme cases.  No worries with EVGA.
