Corrupt_Liberty got a reaction from Mitko_DSV in Show off your old and retro computer parts
I just picked up a TeleVideo 925 Terminal. This thing was very nasty. I was able to get apart and cleaned. Tested voltages and it powered up seemingly with no problems. Couldn't get the keyboard to respond initially. I found two bad key switched that were dead short. After pulling the bad switches I was able to pull up the setup menu and display test characters. Now I'm waiting on replacement switches and a serial cable so I can attempt to connect to my Imsai 8080 clone.
Setup display.
Test Characters
Bad Switch, took awhile to find replacements.
Very nasty inside. Sticks like oily graphite.

Just finished building this bit of kit over the weekend. Boots CP/M like a champ and I love the blinky lights.
How about a nice game of chess?

I'd love to have a model of the WOPR.

The switches weren't bad at all. The worst was the micro sd card reader (surface mount) and the anchors for the serial ports took a lot of heat.

That's even older than the Tandy Coco 3 that I grew up with. I do miss those clowns and balloons though.

If it ever came down to that, I would not be toting a 110 year old bolt action around. I do have a few modern ones in the safe. 🙂
Just in case anyone wanted to see what shoots .303 caliber ammo. I have an Enfield ShtLE #3 rifle and a British pattern 1914 Enfield.

Got a small case of some vintage ammo today. Still trying to decide if I want to open it or keep it sealed for a display piece. 360 rounds of .303 British.

Is a ten year old Westmere server old enough?
Dual Xeon X5675 with 72 GB ECC RAM

And cheap as chips too! The server originally had a single E5520. I picked up the X5675s for $21 each. Not the most power efficient these days but plenty of grunt. Considering none of my media is above 1080p they mostly sit idle. I need to figure out a few more things it can do for me since it's on 24/7 anyway.
