    Basically this

Heres the MSI Ventus 3x 3090

it had a reference msrp of $1499, and for the brief moment prices were normalized, would even go on sale new for under msrp
    It’s features include:
    -having 3 fans
-specifying it has 3 fans in the model name
-being 2.5 slot, genuine feature on the box

    here’s a colorful kudan 3090

it costs $5000, they made like 200 of them tops
    it’s features include
-a hybrid hot swappable 240mm AIO and 3 fan air cooler
-a custom milled brass GPU support
-an oled status display panel, adjustable positioning
-it comes in a flight case
-the first thing in the case is a pair of white gloves so you don’t get fingerprints on it

i mean guess which one performs better?

but then at the same time, the Ventus isn’t noticeably worse than a reference 3090, its perfectly adequate

Also seems like a silly question but is anything bent? Maybe the heatsink contacts so that when you try to tighten it down it bends the cpu / mobo?

It’s a pretty rare scenario where the cooler will cause any performance difference, it would have to be a pretty bad cooler for it to throttle consistently and work worse than reference. But nobody makes a product like that, at least not any mainstream aib. The MSI Armor RX 580 was about as close as a mainstream aib got to a cooler design that was so bad it almost didn’t work.

However board design and some vbios options can leave a card kinda just underwhelming, and at times can perform worse than reference. Though again, a very rare scenario.
We saw this with nvidia 3000 series cards from MSI in the Ventus line. Where they had a harsher power limit in their vbios and couldn’t boost clock as high for as long as most other aib options, and at times would be outshined by the reference card.
However I really gotta specify that that’s a very small difference, and it really only mattered in synthetic benchmarks.
The Ventus cards weren’t specifically bad because of the vbios, they also had mediocre heatsinks and were just kinda hot and loud. That’s why they were the cheapest option.

Usually the cheaper options though have no actual difference in performance, you mostly trade away acoustics, aesthetics, and some thermals. They’re usually loud, they don’t have anything special going on with their appearance, and tend to be hot. But they’ll perform fine.

I'll create a new post, sorry.  I've opened up the Baby AT system a cleared out the mess of ribbon cables to reveal the gooey goodness inside..

It has a Gigabyte GA 586ATV Rev 4B Socket 7 Motherboard in it. Which to Gigabyte's credit they still have the manual for online here..
    https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-586ATV/support#support-manual

Compatibility in the manual list up to a Pentium 200 and a Pentium MMX 233

It also has this Cirrus Logic VC923/926 Fastware card with the GD5446 chipset which another forum lists as one of the first consumer grade parts with media acceleration built in

and finally a Creative Labs CT1690..The Creative Soundblaster Pro 2 from 1993..

I like this one cause it has the older Creative logo on the bigger chip and the newer one on the smaller chip 🙂

I work in a corporate IT department, and if I found out someone did this, frankly, I'd have them written up or fired. Do not modify company equipment. Also, if the IT dept. is at all competent, they will find out.

So you know it's wrong, but are willing to risk your job for it?
Why not make a case for getting a new computer out of this year or next year's budget?
Most places if you change a computer or make changes to a computer without permission and are caught you can get fired.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to SpookyCitrus in old hard drive into new pc = dataloss
If the old PC had two drives, the pictures and documents are most likely stored on the secondary drive. It's a very common thing I've seen businesses or people do to save space on smaller boot/os drives. A simple way to test this would be to move his SSD back to the old computer and see if the documents and pictures folders are working again.

Citizenship or not, we were always going to have our kids over there. USA does give citizen to children born overseas. The country she is from would be much more of a pain to get them dual citizenship.

Very friendly country, but they don’t just give out citizenship.

Not sure what Alphacool is referencing, but they all appear the same. Even if the components are slightly difference, placement and mounting holes are what matter here.

Did you ask them what the differences were between the SUPER and non-SUPER?

As long as the GPU, VRAM, and VRMs are all in the same places and the screws line up, it shouldn't be a problem.

The only real difference between a Super and non-Super GPU is the amount of Cuda cores and clock speed, if I recall correctly.
