I would honestly hit the used market, snag an i7-4770 and a GTX 1070, if your power supply can handle it.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Applefreak in vbc.exe virus showed up
VBC.exe usually is some variant of a trojan. Named like it because of MS Visual Basic, which has a a vbc.exe file in. However MS Visual Basic will not connect to the internet and I am unsure if it would even run on current versions of Windows, the latest iterations is over 20 years old.
Either remove it with bitdefender or use a dedicated tool like malwarebytes antimalware (free to use). It's a trojan not a virus so as long as you disconnect from the internet, in cannot pull stuff and you should be fine. To be safe, make sure to run a fill AV scan on your system.

Lack of modern HEDT is why I upgraded from X99 to X299. The longer we go without it, the less willing I am to leave it...

To answer the actual topic, making things smaller and thinner has been an issue with me ever since Apple started it way back in the day. There gets to be a point where you reach diminishing returns, and there's still a point even farther where you reach a point that it just doesn't make sense anymore.

    This is correct.

Resetting CMOS is likely the best way around this, just don't ever enable that setting again, haha

more of a consumer tech trend:

    upgrading every generation

the amount of people i've seen on this forum and else where on the internet with the last gen top of the line hardware saying they are upgrading to the top of the line for the next gen (3090 > 4090, i9 12900k > i9 13900K etc)

Not trolling just having a bit of fun with my writing 🙂. I have looked at these but I was looking for front mounted i/o. My situation is fairly specific and I am pretty picky when it comes to my case.

IIRC, chassis intrusion works by connecting a switch/sensor that is embedded in PC case chassis to the motherboard. Standard PC case doesn't have this.
So since there is no switch/sensor connected, your motherboard thinks chassis is open all the time.

Problem is resolved. After trying multiple things I accidently bumped my gpu cables and boom the computer detected the gpu (they were fully seated in both the gpu and psu) so I tried different cables that I had laying around and everything is working perfectly. Looks to be faulty cablemod gpu cables. Thank you for your time!

my private laptops always get very close at least, at my previous employer the laptops did a great job too because WAY overspecced and we did every possible optimization, down to plain nitpicking..

with my current job.. and current work laptop.. with a brand new battery in my laptop, i'm happy if the heap of junk will make it to lunch.. or y'know.. will start up in the morning. because everything is windows default behavior, and windows default is like trying to drive to work with your gearbox randomly cycling trough gears like it's roulette.

oh.. and on before mentioned previous employer.. we force-disabled sleep everywhere, because even without this issue.. sleep is absolutely the worst feature windows ever implemented.. it just breaks so much stuff you may as well turn your computer off with an axe every day.

and it just so happens.. sleep is that one thing that seemingly apple has always nailed..

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Zando_ in Help me understand bifurcation?
That page is about compatibility for the Hyper M.2 PCIe cards. Are you using one of those cards for more SSDs? If not then just use the onboard M.2 slots like normal.

PCIe slot bifurcation is just splitting a hardware slot into sets of lanes on the CPU side. So instead of one x16, it acts as x8/x8 or x4/x4/x4/x4 for example.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Echothedolpin in Motherboard Auto-Overclocking to 100C
Prime95 will stress your cpu in a way no practical application ever will, it’s normal to have your highest cpu temperature when running it.

That having been said, how is your cooler mount? Do you have proper thermal paste application? How is your case airflow and airflow setup?

Answers to those questions might illuminate some issues.
