Crunchy Dragon got a reaction from Pasi123 in General Intel HEDT Xeon/i7 Discussion
I'll take a look once Portal RTX is done downloading 👍
Anyway, here's my contribution to the A380 discussion:

Yes. Plenty of people use it every time they upgrade their drivers so they have a fresh install every time.

At 10 years old, I'd replace it.
Even if you've never had a problem with it, that's normal, until you eventually do, and a card that power hungry will likely expose any flaws that have formed.

Always has been 😄. My full size X58 board from 2009 uses dual 8-pin EPS. As does my X79 Dark and X99 Classified. And my ASUS and MSI X58 boards back when I had those. It's only on mATX boards that they dropped the 2nd EPS. My X58 Micro had only one EPS, as does the X99 micro2. ASUS Gene boards look to be single EPS as well, seems it's just an mATX board thing.

That is quite an old PSU.
While it may support it, I'm not sure I'd run it personally, or even recommend it.

EVGA only made high end boards. The Classified has like 2 more power phases than the FTW K, that's about it. The Micro2 handles the biggest CPUs as well (5960X and 6950X for me), it just only has one 8-pin EPS so I wouldn't use it for absolutely slamming chips. For cooling you should just need a custom loop with a 360mm rad, that's usually enough for CPU only, you can use longer-than-needed ZMT and then dunk the radiator in an ice cooler if you want to bring temps down further.

Pretty much, yeah.
It's kind of like double or quad SLI. It will always look better than a single GPU.

Symmetrical RAM sticks are more visually satisfying, so anything X79 onwards looks very nice by default. I think that's most of the looking better bit. Well that and the absolute unit CPU waterblocks because HEDT chips are massive. Makes for a more aesthetically pleasing "heart" of the PC IMO.

X299 Dark take 2 (UPS did not replace it, long story I'm too tired to tell).
The universe has declared that I am not allowed an X299 Dark with both code readouts intact. Going to contact the seller and see if I can get a partial refund because it was claimed good condition, 100% functional, as opposed to returning it. Assuming it POSTs once I have the time to gut my current setup, swap the CPU over, and test it.
Assuming all that goes well, will either try my own hand or enlist my younger brother's help in transplanting the code readout from the first bent board over to this one:
Hoping the DIMM 2 slot not working on the current X299 Dark is due to it being bent and not the CPU itself, that'll be another thing I have to test on the new board, only having triple channel kinda sucks + I do run out of RAM in Star Citizen (due to only having 24GB available instead of my normal 32GB). I'd assume it can't be the CPU as I haven't had stability issues with XMP or CPU overclocking, but I'm not familiar with memory issues outside XMP problems on some old DDR3 DIMMs.
Once all this is done, I can finally do a proper finished* build with the CPU on water instead of a 280mm AIO, and get proper pictures.
**Disclaimer: I am eyeing ARC A770 because I'd like an all-Intel machine. On that note I do need to sort out why my Xeon Phi 5110P doesn't want to work (BIOS says not enough PCIe resources but I have the lanes and 6-pin supplemental power for the PCIe slots + Above 4G Decoding enabled) as I desire the funny coprocessor. These boards will also let me run PCIe bifurcation to x4/x4/x4/x4 so I need to pick up some NVMe drives to populate my Hyper M.2 card and muck around with RAID0 to see how fast they go.

Looking to upgrade from 2x E5-2620 v2, now THIS is a deal.
Hollowed out my C602 build for a dusting, switching out the PSU, and to generally make it more presentatable. Figured I'd upgrade the chips in the process. Hopefully it'll play nice with my Arc A380!

This is also why I pointed towards the Intel-based MacBooks.
M1 is awesome and extremely capable, but the existence of it doesn't render Intel processors nearly as obsolete as the general public is led to believe. As a result, you can be like me and buy a 16" 2019 MBP for nearly 60% less than when it was new.
And if you need to run Bootcamp or something, it'll work better on an Intel Mac than M1.

If I recall, the dislike reaction was denied as they want people to quote them and state their opinions rather than just saying they dislike it.
