Thank you so much for providing clarity to all of my questions, much appreciated.

Cool outside air gets sucked into the case, which will help keep your CPU cool. That air will pick up some heat, but not enough to be a major concern for the rest of your components.

You have to fight thermodynamics to use the top as an intake. Heat naturally rises, so you get more efficient airflow by using the front as an intake, and the top as exhaust. The cool air comes in the front, collects heat, and exits the top.

If the ram is unstable, I would recommend CPU, then ram, then GPU.

I would go for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D if the motherboard supports it via bios updates. Then I would go for a set of 2x16gb 3200/3600 MHz CL16 ram. The GPU should be fine for a while longer with these upgrades and then you can choose whether you want to upgrade from there.

Make sure all the cables are secure, and put the computer on the floor if you can. You might need to dig inside the computer and make sure that all the connections in there are tight, over 9 years they might have gotten a little loose 😄

Unless you also stream your gaming sessions along with 47 browser tabs open while also watching Youtube, no. If you are only gaming or doing "normal" tasks, 16GB is fine for the current time.

You should be able to get a perfectly fine 3070 for that kind of money if you're willing to watch auctions long enough. $200 is too much for a 2060.

If you have a 700w PSU without the cables required I wouldn't trust that PSU.
I would get a decent unit off the forums PSU tier list.

Crunchy Dragon got a reaction from mich_gg_win in Are 1x Sata to 8 pin PCIe adapters safe?
it'll probably run as long as SATA provides enough power for the GPU, but I personally wouldn't trust it with anything crucial.

Make sure whatever PSU you buy in the future will work in your PC. Companies like HP and Dell are pretty notorious for having weird proprietary things that make their systems difficult to upgrade.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to 8tg in Old setup
If that system works, posts fine and still all the on board functions are intact, that’s a very desirable motherboard for a variety of use cases:

These are sold listings, not posted listings.

The reason being is that it fits a few niche hits for an old socket 478 era motherboard
    1) has agp
    2) four DDR slots not 2, and not ddr2
    3) micro atx for compatibility with cheap cases
    4) has sata ports

The big one there is that it’s 478 with sata, there’s not too many 478 boards with sata support as by the time sata was relevant on intel platforms, lga 775 had taken over. That was also around the time of pcie and ddr2. So having all these other core old features people like for a socket 478 board like agp, ddr1 and a floppy header but then also having sata for modern drives is desirable.

Boards worth selling if it works, it’s otherwise a good platform for a retro gaming pc if you’re into that, or you can sell it someone who would be interested in that. Sometimes just a board is more desirable than a whole era system as 99% of the time immediately people want to swap out most of the components except the board and case.

This is when I actually started watching, back in 2010/2011 when I was shopping for a new PC. Was a motherboard review/unboxing of the MSI P67A-GD65 motherboard that started it all.

It's crazy to think that I've been watching the channel for nearly 9 years, and been on the forum for just over 6.

Time really does fly. I still remember the first few LTT videos I watched from searching "how to build a computer" on YouTube back in 2014. What's crazier is seeing how far technology has come since then. I've been in the scene long enough to remember when you could buy a 128GB SSD for the same price as a 1TB SSD nowadays.

The channel and company growth has been insane, too. LMG has come a long way from the kitchen set most of us know and love.
    Here's to the future!
