    For most users anyways.

I've done that on several cables to make them fit into places, they all worked fine.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Alinz in LTT desk mat after around 18months of use
You could use a Damp cloth or a microfiber cloth to clean a mousepad, according to some other mousepad manufacturers you can also submerge your mousepad in warm/lukewarm water with some mild dish soap. I recomend you to contact LTT store support for instruction on how to clean the mousepad without damaging it.

As for selling mousepads, I highly doubt most people would want a second hand mousepad.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Spotty in is reporting working in dms
Reporting PMs is working, however moderators don't have the ability to delete PMs from other people's inboxes. This may lead to situations where a PM that has been reported has been dealt with by the forum moderators but will remain in your inbox giving the impression that nothing has been done. You'll need to delete it yourself by clicking Delete Conversation, though please report the PM before deleting the conversation otherwise you will be unable to report it.

ECC RAM. Xeons have it, and while SOME AMD chips support it, most of the boards those chips go into, don't.

Thank you guys, added them both.  Don't forget you can then download the Portal RTX version for free as well once you have the original game.  👍

Portal and Portal II are 99 cents each (or $1.48 for the bundle) on Steam right now. Would highly recommend picking them up, even though I've played thru both on the Xbox 360 years ago I picked them up on Steam again anyway.

Crunchy Dragon got a reaction from da na in What Quadros can overclock?
I'm sure there's a good amount of Quadros that can overclock. If not, there are probably modded vBIOSes out there that enable it.

I believe no card past Maxwell can change power limits without a modded vBIOS. I've not been in the GPU overclocking scene in a while though, but that's what I remember from Pascal.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Fasauceome in System Using 50% or more ram on idle/light loads
Uninstall everything that is HP and Omen related, or disable it in the startup section. Chances are a large portion of what's consuming the ram is bloatware. Disable as much of any other programs you can as well, I find that having pretty much nothing launch at startup is often best. Most users don't need chrome, steam, Epic, spotify, and OneDrive open the very second the PC starts up.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to TetraSky in A question about Ryzen 7 5800x3d
    - There isn't anything newer for AM4, unless you go for X570, which is really not needed, unless you specifically want the features it has that B550 doesn't.

    - As long as you have adequate cooling, it doesn't get too hot. 70˚C to 85˚C is perfectly fine.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to manikyath in How do I transfer files between two computers over internet?
over internet, or over the local network?

if they're both in the same local network, you can just make a network share on one computer and access it on the other.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to LIGISTX in Nvme SSD over Chipset do it affect speed ?
For direct storage, I think you would need to talk to CPU directly, although I am not sure of that. It wouldn’t be a speed or latency reason, it would be a architectural reason, direct storage may need the GPU and SSD to sit on the same PCIe bus so they can talk directly to one another. I am just not sure…

The performance would be negligible different tho.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to flibberdipper in CPU gets 100 degrees when using cinerbench
You may not have manually overclocked it, but I wouldn't doubt if the board has some of the stupid multi-core enhancement nonsense turned on by default. Those things always dump an obscene amount of voltage to ensure that even the most garbage samples can hit the "hehe funy numer" that everyone likes to see.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Godlygamer23 in Made stupid mistake and ran with PSU very hot - Need advice
If the PSU didn't shut itself off, you're probably fine. It certainly wasn't running in an ideal scenario, but ultimately think you're okay. The smell may have been coming from the leftover dust getting hot. Giving the unit a quick look over internally should be enough to tell you its condition, if the burning smell was coming from a component(or various components).

Crunchy Dragon reacted to manikyath in 5950x w/PBO vs 5800X3D.
in theory on paper the X3D is probably the fastest gaming CPU on the platform.. however.. it's sort of a matter of "having 280FPS instead of 270FPS" in most games. (exact figures were extracted from my rear end, just to draw the distinction.)

in other words.. it's difficult to warrant the effort unless if the downgrade guarantees you can sell at a net profit, and could really use that money.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Fasauceome in 5950x w/PBO vs 5800X3D.
the difference in gaming performance would be pretty small. Yes the 5800X3D is faster, but you may not notice, especially since you're playing a higher resolution which will be stressing the GPU a lot more

Crunchy Dragon reacted to 8tg in Will a GTX 750 Ti bottleneck my Core 2 Quad Q6600?
This is an ancient combo, in many cases the Q6600 will be the bottleneck with the 750ti.

Im surprised there are still people doing that combo, it usually shifts with generations, you should be looking at used haswell i5’s + a 1650 or something. The Q6600 + 750ti was relevant in 2014/2015 as a super budget option.

Liquid coolers are also quieter than air coolers. If you want a quiet rig, liquid is the way to go.
