Crunchy Dragon reacted to jaslion in Can anyone tell me if theres somethign wrong to this ps q 1
Your ps1 has a modchip on it. Basically it can run homebrew and anything. Looks done not too long ago either as those white wires discolor after about 5 years usually

    Thats not how that works.

Thats not how any of that works.

You need to modify your card and have a SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR THAT CARD bios to do this.

Btw it doesnt do much just ups clocks and boosting behavior ehich can be done with just a vega 56 bios

Higher clocks and boosting only possible on reference models. Did it on mine because it was in a waterloop brought 10% performance gains pretty neat

If we are talking few decades and voltages in excess of 50% above stock, then maybe. Otherwise, extremely unlikely.

Finally got to break in my new conceal, shield plus, overall pretty good, it ran like a champ, ate all the jhps, and did some OU skeet before that. Good day.

I picked it up for peanuts last year for this project. I honestly didn't expect to be working in it this much, and it's surprised me how good it is to work in. Only complaint is lack of cable space behind the motherboard tray, it's decent but it's not quite deep enough. Otherwise it's fantastic with all the configurations I've been able to cook up.

    I've been busy.

I have created... a monster. This is reminiscent of how we water cooled back in the early to mid 2000s.

I scored a pair of Inno3D GTX 580s with Heatkiller water blocks on them from the UK. Awesome. The bottom card has a fuzzy output, so it's getting a good reflow this weekend and should be back in business.

    Pure badassery.

For some retro jollies this is how we did it with old Swiftech kits and a P182:
I'm surprised I still have photos of these rigs, I built a lot of them back in the day and it was far more challenging.

I'm mixing my own coolants now to shave some costs, seems to be working quite well so far. Also my EVGA Classy board is no good, dead in the water. Got it to boot a couple times then it just gave up the ghost again. Pity. But I have my backup; the Sabertooth X58, and it works flawlessly.

oooooooh. Suggested MSRP will be 1499.00 bit steep but if its solidly enough built it may be just worth that much.
*edit, I would opt in for a 30-06 or .308 tbh. I would like to keep to what I already stock. I dont mind multiple calibers but I strive to keep my rifle ammo to max of 5 sizes, easier to maintain (for me).

That is one sexy looking rifle... I definitely be getting one of these. Solid looking back up to a malfunctioning AR but also a grand primary hunting rifle. 👍

Trying to remember if any of my recent motherboards came with CDs? (Used to be they all came with discs with drivers on them). You're basically going to be stuck downloading drivers from the internet and loading them to that machine somehow. Either download them from another machine or a phone etc.

Honestly, I stopped doing this (hoarding parts). Usually when I upgrade my PC, I pass parts along, upgrade family members or friends PCs. Recently built a gaming PC for friend of my son for their family, all they had to do was buy a keyboard and monitor. Their just isn't a reason for me to hoard parts that I'm realistically never going to use. I'd rather see them go to use.  I donated a bunch of cases to the local electronics surplus store recently. When I asked if I could bring in donations, he said yeah, he would recycle whatever he couldn't use. I think he was surprised when I brought in a bunch of things like Meshfiy 2s, and Silverstone cases (actually useful stuff).

Don't get me wrong I keep a few things, but keeping tons of stuff just takes up unnecessary room. I've even started going through my car parts, and getting rid of stuff I'm never going to use again.

I'm a power supply and SSD away from being able to run a second PC.

If I did run a second PC, it'd likely be because I bought that Commodore 64 mint in box I saw on Craigslist. My gosh, that's tempting...

I could build numerous computers for $0. Considering I repair, sell, and scrap computers from ewaste, I have tons of spare parts laying around. Heck, I've got two desk drawers full to the brim of hard drives and SSDs. Could build a full custom system from 486 to Ryzen in 30 mins, and I could stick some ram in an old prebuilt ProDesk or ThinkCentre or Optiplex and have a fully functioning systme.
