  1. It depends on your case. In this image, the vertical mounting points would be fine, you would just need to drill/Dremel a new set of mounting points 20mm either left or right of the current 120mm mounting slots and hope there's room to either side for the radiator to actually fit without other parts of the case interfering(such as the motherboard tray or side panel).
  2. A cybersecurity rating is cool to see, but it in no way will impact any smart home or IoT device purchases for me. The most I would do is a network of security cameras, but I would try to avoid IoT or smart devices in that category as much as I possibly can. Overall, I don't believe in all the amenities of a "smart home". To echo(lol) the above incident regarding Amazon, there's no way I would cede that much control of my own home and property to a random corporation. Don't have to worry about your IoT devices being insecure if you don't have any IoT devices. I'm ready and willing to sacrifice a little bit of convenience for peace of mind.
  3. The mounting points for 120mm and 140mm fans are different, same for 240mm and 280mm radiators. Assuming there's enough case material, you could modify a case that only supports 240mm radiators to support 280mm, but you would need to drill some fresh mounting points for the 140mm fans, and Dremel out some new holes for the airflow.

A lot of this is why I'm stuck on the ThonkPad train if I'm buying a Windows laptop for my personal use. Framework seems cool and I appreciate what they're doing, but I'm perfectly fine to buy ThiccPads instead as it's a little better suited for me. I'm also not an early adopter, and prefer to not deal with the headaches of being one. If Windows isn't a necessity though, I'd have a really hard time not looking at a MacBook.
  5. How much power is the card drawing when it spikes? It's possible your GPU is tripping the overcurrent protection on your PSU, and causing your PC to shut down so it doesn't damage itself.
  6. Additionally, Windows 10 and just about any other OS has options to shut down without updating.
  7. This is correct. The CPU won't make a difference if the board doesn't support it.
  8. Unfortunately not, but it was the nice theater in my town so it was still a spectacle. Feels like the movie's about 20 minutes too long, which is pretty good all things considered.
  9. Dead Reckoning part one was excellent. Definitely long(like nearly everything I want to see this year), but pretty solid. Excited for Oppenheimer next week.

A little more ready for the hiking season.

RIP on the Glock, but still a solid kit. I'd probably buy it too. I used to think I would want a rifle or shotgun in bear country, but that is a lot of weight to lug around, especially when you're already hiking/backpacking to begin with.

Good stuff. Here in the States, the "bear necessities kit" usually includes a Glock 20 for extreme scenarios.
  12. There are no solutions, only problems.
  13. Is that the mobile site or with the desktop site enabled? It doesn't show on a mobile browser for me until I enable the desktop site from the browser settings.
  14. Browser, version and OS: Firefox 115.0.1 64-bit, Safari 16.5.1, on macOS Monterey 12.6.7 Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? Visiting my profile(or someone else's profile from a desktop browser). What happened? The "d" in "Motherboard" is on a separate line from the rest of the word on the profile sidebar where my system specs reside. What did you expect to happen? I expected "Motherboard" to be contained on one line. Link to a page where it happened, if applicable: https://linustechtips.com/profile/417131-crunchy-dragon/ Screenshots of the issue, if applicable: Any other relevant details: This does not occur on the mobile version of the site(latest Firefox, Android 13). The error does however return if I enable desktop site from my mobile browser.
  15. Either one would be fine, but the 5600x should last you longer before needing another upgrade than a 3600 will.
  16. If you're really hurting for desk space and if your PC fits, it should be fine as long as you have some cutouts for ventilation. Otherwise, I would pass on that idea personally.
  17. We have templates in place that users can follow in New Builds and Planning, but I'm not currently aware of any way to enforce a specific title format for each individual thread. Reddit has an amount of automoderation that can block posts as soon as they're made for not following title rules or otherwise, but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent for the platform this forum uses. I agree that people asking for recommendations should include information regarding their requirements, but that ultimately falls on the person creating the thread to do it themselves. Moreover, if the entire post fit in the title, there wouldn't be much of a post to go along with it. Looking at most of the threads on the main page in the Laptops and Pre-Builts subforum at the time of posting(22:32 EST), I would say thread titles are fine: https://linustechtips.com/forum/88-laptops-and-pre-built-systems/ Additionally, nearly every starting post does indeed mention other necessary details to assist other people in making informed recommendations.
  18. - Thread Cleaned - Keep it civil here, please.
  19. Just to be on the safe side, I would recommend downloading and running Display Driver Uninstaller to clean out the old drivers before you reinstall new drivers.
  20. You need a server or workstation-specific motherboard with the Intel C422 chipset: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/198015/intel-xeon-w2265-processor-19-25m-cache-3-50-ghz/compatible.html Asus seems to make them, SuperMicro does as well.
