I'm calling it on this Gigabyte board.

I can't repair this, the damage is too severe.

Really sucks to have to ditch it, it's a Z87X-UD5 TH. I can at least salvage the built in WLAN card for something, but this board is not gonna work and I'm not gonna try making it.

    How was it damaged?

Socket was mangled. I got about halfway, but it was being really uncooperative.

And one of the pins had been bent badly enough that I couldn't get it back up without breaking it(found that out when I got it back up), at which point I called it quits.

    Ah, that'll ruin a motherboard.

Was the board stored without a CPU? I've never understood how a socket can be messed up that badly.

Scrappers abuse hardware. Modern sockets are fairly delicate.

    Not a good combo.

So that's were you got it from. How often do you go parts hunting?

I believe the plan is once per week.

Ohh, you have a plan. That's nice and orderly.

Damn, I wish I could join you guys lol. There's no ewaste recycling in London I can buy any electronics from, much less super cheap computer parts.

also I have no one to go with lol

The only place I could get stuff from "nearby" is FreeGeek, and I have no way of getting there

@CUDAcores89, sounds like a nice business. Is it an official LCC?
