I wasn't making fun of her.

She knows more about tech than a lot of people her age, but does say some funny stuff every once in a while.

I'm on a road trip to washington DC  with my family (Only sleeping there, then off to North carolina), and I set up a wifi hotspot with my phone to use the internet on my laptop. My sister heard this, and connected on to it to watch gossip girls on netflix, and, not knowing the difference between a wifi hotspot, and normal wifi used a Gb of data in 15 minutes! That's data my whole family of six uses, and regularly goes close to the limit(Not me though, my data almost never goes above 200 Mbs). And we also have 10+ days until the data resets, and almost 20 hours of car time. BTW, I use 150MBs for the whole trip(Or at least how far along we are already)

I didn't even know it was possible to use that much data that quickly, I didn't even know my phone's internet was that fast!

Also, I had to set it up without a password, because it wouldn't work with one for some reason, and on the highway, someone with a laptop (Definitely a laptop) connected to the hotspot on the road.

We have pentium desktops, that are filled with dust, and have the crappiest little radeon card imaginable.  It is so small , it barely is as long as the pci slot! There is also the 10 year old think pads, and the chrome books that flop around like paper, and lag while running flash games. Flash games!

1TB of RAM for controlling stoplights!? A celeron with 512MBs of RAM could do that!

1.5 Mb/s? Lucky. I'm stuck with "15Mb/s". "1Mb/s on speed test, never actually had more than 0.5Mb/s). Verizon is evil, and it's the only ISP where I live! But there is dumb FiOS literally across town, and we cannot use it for some dumb reason! Google, I don't care about 10Gb/s speeds, or 1Gb/s speeds, but if you can get at least 100Mb/s where I live, you will be the BEST company that has ever been created, or will be created.

It's amazing how when youv'e never used a mechanical keyboard, rubber domes are fine, but as soon as you try a mechanical switch (Even Reds, like me) they become the mushy keyboard equivalent of stabbing yourself.

Don't be stupid! You can't do that! Those RAMs go to the keyboards, and the new monitor would need interwebz RAMses, wich Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and the other people working at the Intel, have not made legal to download off of that place where you go on Facebook.

Because the interwebz tubes don't have enough RAM to be able to handle the gigahertz of the new monitor.

Your 12, and your class is learning HTML? I'm 13, and all we do is fail at scratch. Only me, and one other kids in my class ever accomplished anything. We both made 2D sidescroller adventure games!

Today, I told my friend I built a computer(I will put pics. In my build thread later.). He then asked if it was a touchscreen or a laptop/tablet combo. I obviously said no, he then said "If its not a touchscreen of 2 in 1 its not fast".

I was talking with a friend about PCs,and PC gaming when a wild idiot appeared!
    Idiot: I play PC games!
Me: Cool, what's your steam ID?
Idiot: Steam? I get all my games off of facebook...

Usually I am patient with people who aren't techies.  When they say/do really stupid things like this, it is not because they are non-techies, they are just dumb.

My friend recently got a new Mac(No good story starts with that). All he does is basic browsing, and simple games like minecraft. I almost convinced him to get a PC, but he got a Mac anyway. He now thinks macs are the greatest, fastest machines ever built, but only because he has never used a good PC.
Me: Why do you think that dreadful thing is fast?
Him: There is no lag when you type, unlike on PCs.(Only his PC, because it was around 10 years old!)
One time he learned that Macs have good music production software!
Me: Seriously, I have proven many times that your $1000 box with a transistor glued to it is slow, why do you still insist it is better than my PC?
Him: It has good music production software!
Me: Are you going to produce any music?
    Him:No.
By this point, I think he knows I am right, but just doesn't want to admit it.I wouldn't even mind if he used Macs, and thought  they were better, if he gave me a good reason to support that claim! It might just be a other case of someone having a 10 year old windows vista dinosaur, and thinks all PCs are like this, switching to a Mac, which is obviously faster, and believing it was a gift from the gods because of this.

Thats the kind of computer you buy really cheaply off of a non techy because it's "slow" or "broken" and take the 4790k out of and sell everything else.

I was telling my brother (Who is 18, and really smart) aut the new family computer I was going to buid.

Me: ...It will have a haswell i3 processor too.
Him: What!?! You can't have an i3! That's like a 7 year old CPU!
    Me:What? No it isn't. How?
Him: You do realize there is an i7 out?
Me:*facepalm* That's not how it works. There are different generations, each with a i3, low end, i5, mid range,  and an i7, high end.
    Him:Oh.

    OOH OOH I GOT ONE!
There once was this thread on Linustechtips.com. A thread about people's experiences with non techies. This thread often broke out into off topic discussions. So much so that someone created a new thread just for the off topic discussions of that thread. No one used it. I don't know where it is. I think it just flew past Pluto on the New Horizons probe.
