  1. Are you sure its the heatsink and not just the fans? That can happen if you mistakenly used the wrong fins to slot the fan hooks in. I didn't notice any tilt on my heatsink.
  2. Lol, did it ended up working out for you?
  3. Here you go, the amount of dust that got in is a lot more than I expected but most likely due to my current location. You can see i barely have any wiggle room for the front fans
  4. Looks like Windows cleartype settings is a little bit off. Try this step: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/adjust-cleartype-windows-10
  5. Ya i mean, unless we can see the pictures of the issue (probably before and after). I cant really guess what is wrong with your setup. Looks fine tho
  6. So do you have like picture of the 2 monitors? How are you connecting to both of them? What resolution and bit depth are they running?
  7. That socket is pretty much at EOL at this point. No new CPU architecture is supposed to go beyond Zen 3 on AM4. So for future proofing you probably need to wait for next gen socket from AMD that hopefully also comes with DDR 5, PCIE 5, USB 4. From that point forward, you'll be covered for future CPU, RAM, GPU, M.2, TB docks etc upgrades.
  8. Pretty sure you're not, but I loved it lol. I would've gone for phanteks P400A/500A if wasn't for the looks. (Dem super dark smoked glass side panel with those neon lights looks damn amazing IRL) To each their own I guess haha.
  9. Why though? The part that rests on top of the rams are the plastic fan housing. Its basically RGB strip plastic on Black plastic fan housing. The metal cooler fins is not touching the ram.
  10. Hey all, Just wanna put it out there because TECHNICALLY my config shouldn't work due to height clearance (170mm vs 176mm). Once assembled I have probably around a paper's width of clearance left between the glass and top of the cooler. (!)Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow (!)Ram: Trident-Z Neo 3600Mhz 16GB x 2 (!)CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Other stuff: CPU: Ryzen 3700x Motherboard:Aorus X570 Pro Wifi GPU: 3080 Amp Holo PSU: Seasonic TX-1000 Gold Storage: Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB + 2 x 250 Samsung 840 evo + 1 TB WD Black. Fans: Back: 120mm NH-F12 LTT Top: 140mm NH-A14 Chromax Front 2 x 140mm NH-A14 Hopefully it will help others when researching parts. I was prepared to swap the front CPU fan with a 120mm fan if it hits the case window. P/S: Pardon the crappy pictures. Crappy lighting due to rona.
  11. I do have an LG C9 at my living room. So with a 3080 i can potential play some games at 4k120 with HDR there.
  12. Yeah, but I'm always kinda salty that I know i left some FPS on the table by not going with an intel. Even though the games is supposed to be "GPU bottlenecked" there still some tangible differences between an intel rig vs zen 2 haha
  13. Its an x570 mobo. Yeah you are probably right on GPU. I was wondering which combo is actually better for gaming (3700x and 3080) or (5600x/5900x and 2080 TI). I should probably mentioned all these are hypothetical. Both of them are OOS where I live too lol
  14. So I'm currently rocking a 3700x and a 2080 TI. Wondering which of these upgrade will yield better performance/dollar in triple A games in the long run. Will be running everything but motion blur max at 100hz 3440*1440. On a side note, I do work on this rig as well (software engineering, nothing graphics intensive) so I don't really want to go for 5600x. Seems like a sidegrade to me.
  15. I think that app just send the height sound clip to the receiver for testing. I also think it is licensing issue. Pretty sure most modern pc has enough horse power to run the computation at a software level. Shame though, would be fun to plug in some random stereo speakers into an existing logitech 5.1 or something to get atmos 5.1.2. Heck, I don't even mind if they pass over the licensing fee to the user like how they did for atmos for headphones.
  16. Hi guys, Just as a pure academic exercise. I wonder if it is possible to convert an existing 7.1 computer speakers and re-assign 2 of the channel to height channel. AFAIK windows can only do height speakers via receivers+atmos. Wondering if anyone knows some hack to this.
  17. With my country's climate, I can run it at 4.6Ghz but it is uncomfortably warm. This is already on Phantek TC-14PE. The reason I mentioned the exploits is because to fix it, Intel had to resort to firmware updates that actually reduce the performance of the chip. At least that is what I've read. Phantek's support in my country is also abysmal so I would rather sell that off and get another cooler. Thanks for your thoughts. I may stay on this platform for another gen.
  18. Should the GPU and monitor leaves with a 3700x or can the 4790k (4.4Ghz) still keep up on modern games? This is a purely gaming PC. Primarily Apex Legends but I do play other triple AAA titles and I hate turning graphics down. I'm currently hitting 70-85 fps on Apex but i feel that I should be able to hit 100 fps on a 2080ti and 3440*1440. The only reason I'm not going Intel is the price/perf and the unsettling future that whatever exploit can further cripple the chip. The only chip that resilient to that right now AFAIK is the 9900KS and that chip is waaaaayy over the budget. You can try to convince me otherwise on this. One upside of going Intel is I'll have a beefy cooler from the get go from my 4790k whereas if I go AMD, i'm stuck with the wraith cooler for a while until my budget replenishes. Should I just wait for zen 3 or 10900k? Will any of these comes with DDR5?
  19. Apps usually have their own language settings like in Office, you'll need to setup the dictionary language independent of the OS language. What app is this Messenger?
  20. Nvidia has better tie ins with game devs. Not to mention that majority of the consumer run Nvidia chips so it made sense for dev to optimize team green over team red. Contrary to popular belief, nvidia still optimizes drivers for their old cards. It is just that there's only so much you can extract from card after optimizing it for like 2 years or so AMD on the other hand just have not enough resource to send their engineer to every game dev to help them optimize, let alone getting the devs to optimize their games for AMD in the first place.
  21. Have you tried contacting their support? The online chat is extremely quick and have better chances at fixing it than this forum.
  22. I though of that, but that upgrade path is harder for me as I need to source a new psu (an old corsair 650w probably still can actually), raid card and case. The current nas also serves as my htpc so I can't really get a server rack/gigantic case lol. I actually need to sell those old drives to get the extra drives. A little bit short of cash but storage is getting full lol.
  23. Hi guys, I'm planning to upgrade my current NAS by swapping out the current RAID (4*4TB i think?) and installing new RAID (hopefully 5*10TB). Which option would you guys recommend for setting up an online backup for the current setting>swap out disks and stuf>download the back up again? I may not be able to acquire all the drives at once so I'd have to rely on the online backup until the raid is full in case of any failures. Meaning after i removed the 4*4 raid, I will only use 1 10tb drive and add them as I go along this year. I'm more inclined to carbonite as it seems to have a better restoring tool rather than backblaze's zip file. Open to other *cheap* suggestions as well.
  24. if it is dusty, just use cloth. Don't need to dampen up the cloth as it will spread the dirt even more. Mild soapy water will do for the drink stains and only do it on the stains. All from experience only though. Not a professional pc detailer (if such thing exists lol)
  25. http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/search/applicationrecordsearch?term=highest+altitude+lan+party+on+land&contentType=record It's not really that hard lol
