Does faster RAM really help gaming performance?
jak3mac replied to jak3mac's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks for the advice I already have the PC it's not an order, the CPU is @ 4 Ghz at the moment because it's an easy OC- 32 replies

I've currently got 8Gb 1600 Mhz Crucial Sport RAM and I've seen a great deal on 8Gb 2400 Mhz Kingston HyperX Beast so now it's only £45.95 ($77.26 US, or $84.97 Canada) which is a good deal but is it worth selling my old RAM? I would probably break even, more or less, but would there be any benefits in gaming or general performance? This is my current build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3tlpJ

Yeah, I've been trying to get a job but I can't work many hours legally so nobody's hiring me (I'm in the UK, I don't know if it's different elsewhere)

I was wondering if it would be possible to build and sell PCs, maybe on eBay, for a profit. I need money and I thought doing something I like would be the best way to do it but from my research there doesn't seem to be a profit available. I was wondering if anyone had any advice? Has anyone else pulled this off? Thanks in advance

Asus Directcu ii or Gigabyte Windforce or Sapphire Toxic R9 280x?
jak3mac replied to jak3mac's topic in Graphics Cards
Not that I know of, I found it using Google Images because I'm original (http://www.fredascott.com/data/photos/418_1intel_inside.jpg) Interesting, the VaporX is only £25ish cheaper than the Toxic so is it really worth just getting it? I think I'll probably get the DirectCUI II, is the V2 the Matrix Platinum one? -
Asus Directcu ii or Gigabyte Windforce or Sapphire Toxic R9 280x?
jak3mac replied to jak3mac's topic in Graphics Cards
That's the most valid reason of them all The general consensus seems to be pro-toxic but closely followed by Asus, I prefer Asus products but if its price is higher everywhere I'll get the toxic -
Asus Directcu ii or Gigabyte Windforce or Sapphire Toxic R9 280x?
jak3mac replied to jak3mac's topic in Graphics Cards
True, they do look good Thanks, will do I wasn't sure about the Gigabyte one in the first place but I thought the cooling was quite good so I included it in the post -
Asus Directcu ii or Gigabyte Windforce or Sapphire Toxic R9 280x?
jak3mac replied to jak3mac's topic in Graphics Cards
Any reasons why? Better overclocking? Higher clock speed? -
Are you getting the 4 or the 2gb edition of the graphics card?

Hi, I'm planning to get an R9 280x and I'm not sure which one to get, I can't decide between the Asus Directcu ii edition, the Gigabyte Windforce edition and the Sapphire Toxic edition. From what I've heard they're all good cards but the Sapphire and Gigabyte ones are louder than the Asus one however they are clocked higher. Is there any performance difference between them and if so is it worth spending more on the Asus one? If anyone owns the Gigabyte/Sapphire ones could you tell me if they are annoyingly loud please. Which one do people prefer? Thanks in advance

I think you're the only one who's going to reply! I bought it, it was a good deal and I did some more research and it's got lots of good reviews from other sources too. Looking forward to getting it on Saturday

The Kingston v300 240gb SSD is on sale and I've never bought an SSD before. Is this one any good and should I buy it as the price is only about £95 which is £20 off, Kingston's a good brand and the SSD seems to have good reviews on Amazon but I'd like to have the blessing of the sacred Linusees first! I currently have a 1tb WD Black so I'm not short on storage. Thanks for any advice, Jake
