  1. I would transcode only if the playback device does not support the source video codec. Most modern TVs and phones support h264 video, so in my case I never have to transcode. Maybe you can temporarily install plexserver on one your machines and see if your playback devices support your most used video codecs. Or I guess you can lookup codec support in the device spec page (for TVs).
  2. The amount of CPU power you need will depend on whether you want to do live transcoding. But if you enable direct stream, plex will pass the video directly without transcoding. This way I have successfully run plex servers on the raspberry pi 2. All my devices (phones, TVs etc) support the popular formats so trans-coding is not really necessary in my case. If possible I would encourage you to go this route. Anyway, it looks like you want to have the transcoding feature. In that case an 8320 should be enough for these tasks.
  3. What adapter did he use to mount the 2 PCI-E expansion cards?
  4. I don't know if any linux OS is better than the other for this task. They should all perform the same. I would go with debian or centos for their stability. Personally, I think setting up OpenVPN is kinda overkill. My setup is just an ssh tunnel. It can do most things that a VPN can, but is much easier to setup. Or, in your case, OVH VPS will come installed with ssh, so you don't have to do anything.
  5. I have used elementary OS. It is very simple to use and fast. Should be a good choice. Using linux is not as hard as people make it out to be, don't worry.
  6. Supermicro makes redundant power-supplies for server chassis, supplying upto 2000W. You could take a look at those: http://www.supermicro.com/products/nfo/power_supply.cfm
  7. Check if the games you want to play are on this list. It can play a majority of them at above 30fps with the lowest settings http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-8550G-HD-8750M-Dual-Graphics.108245.0.html
  8. The kitchen shot in this video looks pretty grainy and noisy
  9. Your decision to go for a good headphone + modmic is great. Then you have a lot of options and don't have to pay the extra "gaming" headet premium. Considering the modmc can be had for ~$50, you could get: Sennheiser HD558 - Good flat sound. Open-back design so you get a good soudstage too. This is my daily driver. ATH-m50x - closed back design, so you won't get the soundstage, but great sound. Has a bit more bass than the 558s DT 990 pro - Very similar to 558s but a tad more bright I feel. Honestly, it's hard to pick the differences between these headphones without trying them side-by-side. But I'm sure you would be happy with these.
  10. My favorite thing about the G3 is the amount of customization options available in the settings menu. For someone who uses multiple mods on stock android, having them available from the get go is big thumbs up from me!
  11. I think htc one has the most beautiful android skin (sense 6). The added microsd card slot is a big plus too!
  12. I don't see any info online about thief source code leaked? Am I missing something?
  13. I've seen mirc with green text on a black background, it's the most widely used irc client but it is a paid software. Alternatively, You could try kvirc, it's a free irc client and has most of the features of mirc, with scripting, themes etc. This is for windows. I'm not aware of any cli chat clients on windows. http://www.kvirc.net/ For linux though there is irssi which is a cli client which has themes and scripting. I've been using it for the past 4 year and I love it. There is a windows port, but I don't know how it works http://www.irssi.org/
  14. Have you tried undervolting the card? It can easily knock off a couple of degrees from the core temperature. You can use msi afterburner for that
