pieter91's Achievements

  1. I have the 2016 16GB model, and I'm glad I didn't get an 8GB model. I wouldn't even trade up to a newer model if it meant losing the memory. This is for my use-case however. I would also recommend Boot Camp (maybe even run Windows from an external SSD). But in any case, try to figure out how much memory you'll be needing for VMs, programming and multi-tasking. Also take into account how long you want to keep using the computer. If it's three years until your next upgrade, you might be okay. But I used my 2008 MacBook until I got this one last year, and the extra upgrades I was able to do during it's life really made a difference in performance.
  2. I have a MacBook (Late 2008) and a Hackintosh (i5-4670k@4,4GHz, 32GB DDR3 2400MHz, GTX 970). The MacBook is ready for retirement. I'm hoping tomorrow's announcement wil include a MacBook Pro that will suit my needs for a long-lasting laptop. I'd like a proper quad-core (but I could live with a dual-core with HT), a minimum of 16GB of memory, Thunderbolt 3, and a reasonable price. SSD size is of secondary importance, but ≥256GB would be nice.
