You can pick old builds in the launcher if you want OG Minecraft.

Oh, something I encountered hosting my own servers, you may need to disable authorization of clients.  The central servers sometimes will not authorize people for you depending on your network setup.

To counter bots/spammers I run a whitelist.  People contacted me wanting in and I added their Name/IP to the allowed players list.

This is not a new problem, and is likely why Intel changes sockets with new CPU's now (or simply does not support old CPU's with new boards).

The best course of action, if you are running a shop or doing builds often, is to have the absolute cheapest 1st gen CPU for the platforms you are building on hand.  That way you can fix this problem for yourself and others.  The CPU will pay for itself after you fix the problem for 2-3 people.

If you, like many others, are going to use older high end GPU's then 550w is fine.  For any mainstream build 450w should be plenty though.

    Reasons not to go SLI...

    Inconsistent performance in new games
    Waiting months for SLI patches
Never getting SLI patches in many new games

SLI is only really a decent solution once you get to the point that there is no higher tier GPU and you still need more GPU power.  SLI low-mid range makes zero sense with all of the headaches that come with it.

You can still run your own server.  I have several internal servers that I open up for others occasionally.

KarathKasun got a reaction from ProjectBox153 in Is a business grade laptop really that different ?
The business class laptops usually have more stringent QA testing, resulting in better quality and longevity.

Ive noticed that cheap laptops are VERY hit or miss.  Some last forever, others go through fans at a rate of 1-2 a year or have innate overheating problems.

I got a cheap Lenovo Y520 gaming laptop and the fans are making bearing failure noises after ~6 months.  Probably because they never go below 30%, even when the laptop is ice cold.

    1050 Ti.

That CPU is garbage, even at higher clocks.  Had one running at 4.8ghz and it couldnt keep up with a 1060 class GPU in many games.

Centrifugal forces are what increases with rotation.  These forces would reduce the effect of gravity.

KarathKasun got a reaction from dizmo in Is 960 and 970 still worth it?
960 is ~1050 Ti.  970 is much better.

KarathKasun got a reaction from DocSwag in Ryzen 1700 or I7700k
4K reduces the need for a faster CPU, it does not increase it.  1080p is more CPU demanding because the GPU has less work to do.

KarathKasun got a reaction from SpaceGhostC2C in can 2 gtx titan v or 1080ti work together
GPU is most important at 4k+ for games.  For best gaming performance and decent workstation performance, use i7-8700k.  If you are doing CPU heavy work like video/animation rendering, get a Threadripper for best performance per dollar or get an i9 if you need the tiny bit of extra performance for nearly double the price.

Titan V does NOT support SLI.
GTX 1080 Ti does support SLI.
    Titan P/XP do support SLI.

KarathKasun got a reaction from Spudbilly in what was your first graphics card?
If you want to go back further than "cards", I had a Dell Dimension 486/33 with a S3 805 512kb SVGA chipset.  Further back than that I had  C128 with a VIC-II + VDC.

KarathKasun got a reaction from shea99 in What card can I get Under 250 US
Depending on the interest of the son, I would get a GT 1030 or GTX 1050 to put in that system and keep the R9 380.  GTX 1050 Ti is not worth $200+.

KarathKasun got a reaction from Damascus in Why ryzen single core score is low?
Requires you to buy a very high end MB and then KL-X disables 50% of the board or more.

I think the last and most up to date AGP GPU's were the Radeon 2600 and GeForce 8600.  good luck finding any though.

Depends on weather you want 8 cores at ~3.8ghz or 6 cores at ~4.0ghz.  Luck of the draw can change your clock range significantly as well.

KarathKasun got a reaction from just_dave in -basically AM4 mobo VRM discussion-
No B350 is ideal for the R7 line of CPU's, even the best of them have VRM heat problems.  Even the lower end X370 boards can have issues because they are just B350 boards with a different chipset.

KarathKasun got a reaction from Daniel Z. in Better value gaming CPU than $130 i3-7350K?
That CPU is horrid for gaming, cores aren't everything.  The R3 1200 will walk all over that in gaming and can OC to ~3.8ghz.
