I would like to clarify that there is a Micro Center about 2 hours from me. Thanks for the advice.

I'd go with something like this. AM5 CPUs really prefer 6000 mhz ram. If you want to drop price anymore I would look at trying to get a 3070 or 3070 ti used if you can find a good deal. Another option is getting a cheaper case. Something like the coolermaster q300l would work.

Edit: If you happen to live nearish a microcenter, they have this AMD bundle right now with better parts that are cheaper than the CPU/Mobo/Ram in this build.  It should be about 30 dollars cheaper which conveniently is how much the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE costs and would be the perfect cpu cooler for build.

ThatSweetGamer reacted to Coolmaster in Where do I find my Windows 11 Pro activation key code?
Most of the time you don't need a code with an OEM system. You just install windows without the code, and it will automatically activate.

ThatSweetGamer reacted to Zando_ in Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980 Ti loose fans
Would depend on the card's construction, but usually that's not a daunting task. Shroud should come off with a few screws, the cooler is usually held down with 4-6, only thing you need to be careful of is the fan wires themselves, and the stock thermal pads (you want to reuse those). You may not even have to remove the actual heatsink tbh, but if you do then you can repaste it while you're in there, probably needs it after all this time anyways.

ThatSweetGamer reacted to Zando_ in Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980 Ti loose fans
Probably new fans, given how old the 980 Tis are I'd expect them to fail about now. eBay has some that claim to work, mention you need to double-check the connectors though: https://www.ebay.com/itm/153972751979?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=153972751979&targetid=1263104806006&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9013091&poi=&campaignid=14859008593&mkgroupid=130497710760&rlsatarget=pla-1263104806006&abcId=9300678&merchantid=6296724&gclid=CjwKCAjw6raYBhB7EiwABge5KhbiXcQZajzuD1x7_UA0W_n0iwWBxY45P7Q--B8OIyW8HTNU4-WulBoCh-wQAvD_BwE

Otherwise you can just pull off the shroud and stock fans and zip tie normal case fans on, works the same (or even better sometimes) just looks a lot more jank.

ThatSweetGamer reacted to rikitikitavi in Macbook m1 or m2?
Best value Macbook is M1 Air. It is plenty fast, reliable and most probably will continue serving you way past your school.

M2 Air is a bit better in most ways, and you pay a premium for that.

M2 Pro 13” is a special case for special people. A little bit extra battery, and can save a few minutes when someone builds a big project that already takes an hour work. So not for most people and most probably not you.

If your usage is internet and papers - 8GB RAM is most probably sufficient. If you think you might be running much more - 16GB.

If this is the only pc, you will most probably benefit from a larger storage like 512GB. You can always add external storage via USB.

In short, if this is the only pc and you are not sure what future holds (requirements), go for M1 Air 16GB 512GB as the best value.

However, it all depends on your expected usage.

Currently Apple has ‘back to school’ discounts.

So the funny thing is that the flow x13 has more ports than the xps 15 and lenovo slim 7 :p. Like I'm not joking the smallest laptop here with a port that takes up extra space has more io than bigger laptops that don't have the extra port.

Also flow x16 exists and is still in your weight evelope.

You are kinda asking everything without comprimises.

Issues with thin and light with a dedicated gpu is cooling. There exists almost no laptop that can actually cool itself properly with a decently powerfull gpu that isn't gimped. The asus flow x13 and x16 are as far as I know the only laptops that don't compromise on cooling whilst still having good specs.

The slim 7 or surface are not moderate gaming laptops. They will run indies and some AAA games at 720p low settings but thats about it.

If I were to get that I'd like to get the OLED screen but I heard the OLED doesn't scale well in 16:10. Like the panel itself isn't 1:1 with 16:10. Although I think it may also be a little too heavy for my liking. I did see that Asus is coming out with a new Vivobook Pro 14 (M6400). That looks more my speed haha

If you can go slightly above 4lbs, XPS 15 could be an option, and it packs a larger screen + dGPU. Here's the weights for the current model:

I know nothing of steamdeck, nor how you use a M/K peripheral with a handheld gaming system.

That said, if you want M/K to operate dual systems, you use a KVM switch.

ThatSweetGamer reacted to MadGoatHaz in Difference between be quiet! Dark Power 12 vs Dark Power Pro 12?
The pro can be more efficient and have much less voltage drop. Also the pro can be configured for single or multi rail use (the non pro is multi rail only). Single rail is often preferred in highly overclocked situations.

I run a 1200pro myself, replaced my very old Corsair hx1050. I'm very happy with it, but I also try to buy the best PSU I can (within reason) when I need a replacement.

That PSU looks like a good quality unit. I see no need to exchange the PSU. You can return it for a 850w unit if it give you a peace of mind.

ThatSweetGamer reacted to Chris Pratt in Do I need to update the bios of the GIGABYTE X570S AORUS MASTER to use the new 5000 series processors?
If it's an X570S, it'll support 5000 series out of the box. That board variation (X570 with passive chipset cooling) came out after Zen 3, so any board like that will already have a compatible BIOS. The issue was with things like B550 and X570 (non-S, active chipset cooling), as those predate Zen 3. With anything like that, it just depends on when the board actually rolled off the line. Newer boards will already be updated, but you could get one that's been on a shelf for a year, that wouldn't be updated yet. That won't be an issue with the board you bought.

You should call them and see if you can even exchange it first. Explain your situation to them. Also, if you're running this build, go for at least a 1000W 80+ Gold PSU or 1000W 80+ Platinum PSU.

General rule of thumb is to multiply that estimated wattage by 1.5. That way you're never overtaxing the PSU.

The CPU is stock, just lets itself overclock since its ryzen. The GPU is an EVGA FTW3 so it has the factory overclock. I personally wouldn’t recommend overclocking just because his room turns into a sauna when he games. But if you want to overclock the GPU you can also optimize the voltage so it doesn’t use too much.

If it were me, I'd exchange it. A 3080 non-Ti cuts it close for a 750w at stock speeds, let alone overclocked. Besides, if you can afford an 80Ti, you can afford an 850w PSU.

I don't think you're gonna find many full-size RGB keyboards with MX Blues sub-$100, but something like a Ducky One 2 would give you good build quality without being overly gamer-y.

RGB header is universal, you can build yourself from rgb strips.
Most new motherboard have rgb header, but i don't think a 6th gen motherboard has it.
There's a usb to rgb converter for those mobo.

Games like RDR2 get a huge performance bump from having extra threads and cores. For AAA titles you are going to want those extra threads.

It did not use to, but currently it can make a big difference, especially on low core count CPUs like these (by today's standards).

I'd put my money on the i7 4790K system being faster in games. The i5 6600K has basically the same performance as an i5 4690K, and I know for a fact that the i7 4790K beats the hell out of a i5 4690K in modern titles.
