  1. Today the GPU hits 65C, while CPU was 60C. Jump from 50C to 65C on a warmer day doesn't feel right.. Not too sure if this is the best location now and I might as well just put it venting out the bottom instead...
  2. Some back story: I am new to water cooling in general, and have avoided any type of liquid/water cooling in my PC for years... until I come to hate my Founder's Edition GPU. I got a EVGA AIO hybrid cooler for it and installed it on my GPU. Now the issue is how everything is cramped in my case. I have a Fractal Design R5 with a Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler. First thought was to put the new GPU radiator toward the bottom and blow out but EVGA graphics manual says nope. So my other solution is front, back, or top. Front is the intake and I didn't want to change to a exhaust for this radiator, while I had no room to mount it at the top. My only solution was the back. I ended up squeezing it behind the NH-D15, with very little room, with the hose looping around on the top side. I tried the panel side, but it was too thick to close the panel, while the bottom side was blocked by the NH-D15. Quick gaming runs and stress tests shows lots better numbers (84C throttling with FE default fan profile, 70s but no throttling with MSI Afterburner fan profile, and now 50C max comfortably). CPU temps is also around 50s, 60C max. My questions are whether this setup is going to be OK for the GPU temps in the long run? Any AIO things I need to worry about? Is mounting the hose side top OK? Also the fan is 120mm, I'm wondering if there is a way to use a 140mm with a 120mm rad? Edit: adding a crude PC image of air flow. Red is GPU, Blue is NH-D15, Orange is where the GPU rad is. Black is front intake.
  3. Over a week update: No issues since. I'm guessing whatever I did with the hardware reseating/rebuild/remount fixed it. I have not try to OC or do anything but game/browse and some light video processing. Thanks to all for your help.
  4. I don't really have chance to get it to run as intense and long as you wanted it. I cannot leave it unattended for too long, so I did 30 min for the first test, and 30 for the memory test in Aida64. No issues. No reboot. Also I just got back and did some gaming for about 30 mins, the same game that crashed and rebooted before. No issues again. I will stress it out again should it fail, but for now I think it is gone... Thanks and I agree that there would be something written to the dump file even without BSOD, but it definitely didn't act like it so I doubt there is anything in there. BTW, one thing I remember while debuilding was that the CPU fan on my Noctua NH-D15 was sitting directly on the RAM. One of my thoughts is that the fan vibration may have messed up with the RAM, so I moved it higher... So far no issues yet. I can mess with it for a few more hours. Hope it is fixed.
  5. AM update: I won't be posting the dump file. It was last updated in April, and file size is 1.4 gigs. I didn't get a BSOD, so I'm pretty sure it was not logged as all, since it was not a safe crash that Windows initiated to recover from, but more of a hardware issue... I ended up opening the case, unplug/plug in all the power cables on the drives and the PSU. Re-seat the RAMs and GPU. Also redid the thermal compound that I should have done last time. Pretty much trying to get all the contacts to be fresh again. Dusted and put it all back. Ran a game for about 10 mins. Nothing weird. No reboot after 1 hour of regular use yet... Going to let it be for about a week, and but I'll post again if it does reboot.
  6. LOL perfectly ok good sir. I should be in bed too (1AM for me). OS disk is pretty new... about a year. The whole system was a slow upgrade part by part about 2 years ago. ADATA 120GB. I will need to check temps and get you the dump later. I am guessing it is a hardware issue... but it was really weird since I didn't do any recent upgrade... but something might be intermittent for a while now... I will open and check it tomorrow morning. Will report back with results. Thanks guys. If anyone else have ideas, please leave them. I will continue troubleshooting in the morning. Thanks again.
  7. Actually now it is not gaming related. But even on those games, it was random, and on both legit steam and torrented ones (no offense taken). I did Heaven Benchmark and Furmark before, no issues after 30 mins. Also Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to stress test CPU/RAM. Again 30 mins no issue. Funny thing is it restarted just now while I was trying to reply to you. No game, while browsing. Youtube was playing for a while, but stopped then it restarted...
  8. I reset everything to default. No overclocks at all. Even RAM is at default 2133 MHz, not the XMP profile.
  9. My PC has been restarting randomly lately... mostly during gaming load (90+% load, 60+C temps). No BSODNot sure where to start, or even if this is the right section... BIOS updated. Drivers updated. Here is spec:Windows 10 6700kGigabyte Z170 GT1080 Ti FEG Skills Ripjaw 3200 - 32GBSeasonic 860W PlatinumThoughts?
  10. Update - I updated my BIOS from a version 8 to 21 (didn't even know there was one since I checked not too long ago). Looks like the voltages are regulated better and the temps are around 60C (max 65C) in Cities Skylines now. So I guess this is resolved for now. I will keep an eye on it still, but it looks like BIOS updates fixed it.
  11. The only thing I changed recently was getting a good deal on RAM and installing them, had to move the fan on the D15 off to install the RAM, but that's working fine now. And got a new SSD. Although, I'll be honest that I never actually check the temps before too much, so maybe it has been 80+C all this time...
  12. OK done a preliminary check and running the game now. So the PC itself isn't that dusty. Good ole Fractal Design Define R5 filters works wonders. Barely any dust on the heatsink or fans. All cleaned now. Then I noticed that the Low Noise Adapters were on all this time. Took that out and cranked up the Fan Speed in BIOS to max speed. Before: Idle 35-40C, regular games 60-65C, and Cities Skylines was 75-80C. Now: Idle 30-35C, regular games 55C, and Cities Skylines is about 70C (ping max 74C). I could do more with reapplying the thermal paste. I'm also not sure about fan setting to stay full max speed all the time... I'm worried about leaving back to normal and it still allow temps to go up to 75+C. How should I deal with the fan situation?
  13. OK thanks. I'll report back in a few hours.
  14. Sorry. I did not imply it was pre-applied. Came in the same tube you can buy (5 stars on Newegg). Not much troubleshooting, still need to dust and open to see if the fans are flowing. Just try to get some more thoughts and ideas before I go tackle it in a few hours. I also wanted to see if anyone have this issue with Cities Skylines, and that this is common. Since if it is common, then I shouldn't worry too much. Other games/activities never push it over mid 60C so that's why I'm wondering if it is just going bad or the game specific... Idle is about mid 30s C.
  15. Noctua's thermal paste sucks? This is news to me...
