    That was what I assumed. Just figured the mini cards may have been interchangeable due to z87 and z97 being similar.

    I have a z87 mpower max with a motherboard wireless n adapter. My question is can I use the wireless adapter from the z97 in my board. The reasoning is that the one in the z97 board is wireless ac. Finally if its possible any ideas where to purchase one. Thx in advance guys/gals

    On boot/reboot I have to enter disk management to assign a drive letter to my raid 0 setup. It keeps forgetting on reboot and I have to reassign. It worked previous to windows 8.1 update. I have don't a complete format and reinstall along with updating my bios to the latest release. Z87 Mpower max 4770k (stock) Samsung 840 pro 256 with win 8.1 2x1tb wd black in raid 0

    Im able to push mine to 1.3 without temp issues. See sig. I do not however need that much voltage to obtain 4.6 or 4.7 Any suggestions on what we could try? So far we have updated and reset the bios/changed fan hdrs/repasted and remounted. Temps have been verified with multiple programs.

    Wouldn't crashing due to temps on stock settings be viable enough? The chip isn't even working @ stock. To me that's good enough reason to get an replacement. With all the knowledge in these forums we are just looking for advice and or similar experiences.

    I don't think you understand the point. A new cooler shouldn't be needed to keep a stock cpu from overheating and shutting down. The AS5 was free for one... and two its not going to drop temps by 20 deg when It cures. AS5 is a very capable product.

    Yes ive seen the paste and was spreading ok. When we placed the fan on a system hdr and ran full speed idle temps were 35-40 but with load 100. I know it sounds like a contact issue (we all know how the intel clip system works) Will take the mb out and check the connections underneath. with that being said it does look like there is proper contact due to the spread of the paste.

    Also we have changed fan hdrs on the board a few times to see if they weren't getting proper speeds. Even with the fans at max the temps are still high. Ive been beating my head over it cause we have tried almost everything. I was positive it was the mount but after giving him the proper instructions and resources im certain he is doing things correctly. Ive seen the actual previous paste job and it didn't justify the high temps.

    The volts are not going above 1.1. The heatsink has been remounted a minimum of 5-6 times. I thought it was the heatsink at first but even after a good mount and paste he is getting similar temps. The cpu is restarting in games Ie: BF3. Surely this has to be the cpu. Im almost certain we can rule out mounting and paste. He is using AS5 and the pea method and the proper amount. There were minor changes from remounting but temps are still way too high.

    It Is faulty and the system is restarting under gaming at normal clocks. How could he not RMA this?

    I understand the capabilities of a stock cooler! A friend of mine has a brand new i5 4670k. Right out of the box it was running abnormally hot. His idle temps are anywhere from mid 40's to high 50's and when running any kind of stress test ie: Intel Extreme and OCCT his temps are skyrocketing and even hitting 100. After repasting around 3 times the best results were still 90 ish under load. All fan software has been uninstalled along with a bios update and reset. Is this chip bad? I would assume so and am thinking he should RMA it. Any other opinions? Thanks Guys

    Aida64. And i will verify for 8+ hrs when I dial it in a little bit. Glad to hear my results are good so far, seems surreal since ive had bad luck with the silicon lottery in the past.
