I'm not saying Microsoft is a saint here, but a lot of problems I've seen are often due to PEBKAC.

And just because they have problems doesn't mean it's necessarily the norm.

With the way people tinker with their machines without understanding what those things do, it's a miracle their PCs still run.

Are you talking servers or desktops? Because that falls under servers.

If a reboot causes you that much of a hassle, then you should rethink your setup. I mean you are saying you have a bunch on un-completed, un-saved work in the browser. I mean WTF happens if your browser crashes?

Your "productivity" isnt even a windows problem. The problem is you dont save anything.

They are not out of touch with the real world, you and most others here think they are the world and they need to be catered too. Yeah random reboots are uncalled for, but you know that and still refuse to change your work style.

Optane is used as cache to speed up HDD, or are straight up SSDs ... why are people here saying it's ok to add that to RAM???

This is like adding the 8GB of cache from the SSHD in your system to your RAM, how does that make any sense????? It's storage, don't people know the difference??

That's why I said I believed it was A/B testing.
A/B testing is when you deliberately give different people different versions of things (such as programs or websites), then monitors their behavior to determine if a change is good or not.
I mean, there are only two explanations for why this happened.
The official story from Microsoft is that they accidentally enabled this for some users.
The other explanation is that they did it deliberately.

If you ask me, it seems very unlikely that Microsoft would "accidentally" write a patch which introduces ads into the email client, and then "accidentally" push that update out, but only to specific people (maybe they "accidentally" created a list of people who would get this new version which contained ads).
It seems far more likely that Microsoft thought "hey, maybe we should monetize our email app by introducing ads inside it. Let's develop that and then try pushing that out to some people to see how they react".

How is it a non issue when a program becomes worse for the users?
I am not sure what you mean by "you only see ads if you care to". You can't use for example adblock inside the email app.
The only way to avoid ads baked into a program would be to stop using the program, and at that point we have the issue I described where the developers may not know why people are abandoning the program.

    Yep
It doesn't need to be that thin. A tablet is not going in to my pocket so why should I care if it was a bit thicker but instead had better battery and stronger frame or even some sort of passive cooling (or a better one if it has one already)

People used to carry flip phones and the thickness wasn't a problem. So I don't know how a slightly thicker phone than what we have now can bother them, let alone a tablet that is not going inside pockets.
But the thing is this: a thin and light tablet makes more headlines and that's what apple is thinking about probably.
And there is a big problem with the whole thin thing that they are doing:
As you know big companies like Apple and Samsung are in a position which makes them able to trend some stuff. Samsung did 18:9 aspect ratio and glass backs, wireless charging etc.
Apple did headphone jack removal, notch, useless thin designs and now, they brought back the "who has got the thinnest" fight to tablet market.
And probably, some manufacturers are going to blindly follow that and sacrifice performance or battery life for this. And that's the problem. You might get effected even if you don't have an apple product.
And that's the sad part. Companies that just follow everything blindly(and most of the times they "copy" the bad stuff that apple does. Instead of learning from good stuff they do like 120hz display or mute switch ...

It seems so, at first I had my windows with every thing disabled but a few months back I did a clean install and never bothered with disabling anything and I haven't noticed anything different between the mods I had on and the vanilla version I'm running now.

Again, it's a device meant to be very portable and easy to use. You shouldn't have to baby it. You didn't need to with the other models so this one requiring extra care is a step backwards.

Apple disagrees. If I recall correctly, they have a few times bragged about how their devices are so intuitive that even babies can use them.
Also, even if you don't think you should do it, people do. It is very common to leave children with iPads. It might not be good for a wide variety of reasons, but I think companies should take their customers' use cases into account when designing their products.

People shouldn't have to adapt to products. Products should be designed with users in mind.
Your constant "you shouldn't handle it this way, you should handle it that way" is a pretty clear example of you trying to steer people into using the iPad a certain way, because Apple has now taken a step backwards and made it more fragile to the point where people might have to adapt and use it differently. That's bad design.

They don't have to. There are many ways they could increase the durability of the iPad Pro without making it thicker, and certainly not as thick as the original iPad.
In fact, the previous iPad Pro model was more durable than this one, and it was not as thick as the original iPad. So even Apple has released products which are stronger without going to the hyperbole lengths you suggest.
For example reinforcing the aluminum could help.
Or maybe use other materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic, Kevlar, magnesium alloys, the list goes on.

For example, by changing the aluminum chassis for a standard carbon fiber one, they could reduce weight by about 50% (for the chassis, not the overall weight), increase rigidity by about 30%, as well as increase the tensile strength by about 60%.
Swap that common carbon fiber out for something a bit more fancy like a one-directional fabric, using high modulus carbon fiber and you can get 4 times the rigidity of aluminum, half the weight and over 3 times the tensile strength.

I think the problem here is that we got very, very expensive devices which are meant to be very portable, and yet they break if you don't baby them.
Let's think of this critically for a moment. These devices are meant to be used, thrown in and out of bags, get taken with them in places like clubs (lots of DJs use them), maybe left with their children, and so on.

Making things more fragile can be very costy for us consumers if it breaks.
Making things sturdier, assuming no major drawbacks, is just a benefit for us. The sturdier a device is, the better.

So when a company makes things more fragile it is a step backwards, at least in that specific regard. Remember what happened when "bendgate" happened? Apple started using sturdier materials in the iPhones. The consumers benefited from that outrage, even if it was quite overblown.
I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting Apple to improve their products, and in order to do that we need to criticize their current products.
Feel free to keep defending Apple and saying that people just need to be more careful with their products, but in the end Apple did take a step backwards with the new iPad when it comes to durability, and with enough pressure they will improve it for the next version. What you're doing is encouraging them to not improve on the next version by pushing that this is a fine design and doesn't need to be changed.

Whats more than a bug? A bug is a bug no matter the severity.

This was a bad issue but it didnt affect everyone who update and I guarantee most people dont even know one drive exist. I fell under all the reasons why it with both of my PCs and both never lost files with the original 1809 update.

But my point is even if they hire a staff of 200-300+ for active testing, its still too small. We have beta programs but people are too worried about them so dont test and then bitch because there wasnt enough testers. Them hiring people wont solve a thing, we need real world test.

There are literally trillions of combinations of software and hardware that cannot all be taken account for in each update. This isnt 2001, where the amount of hardware and software was scaled way down.
