I was watching Jay's video in disbelief. It's and end of an era for a lot of us. I've run few EVGA cards in my systems. It's time to pivot.

Glad to see other countries are making breakthroughs in chip design and manufacturing. Ultimately this will contribute to more multipolar world where smaller guys can't just be blackmailed into submission because they chose to develop their own independent foreign policy and find themselves slapped with sanctions from the US and the crowd. Breakthroughs are done in payment systems as well which will rival SWIFT, Visa and MasterCard - meaning except from technology perspective, it will also be harder to isolate countries by denying them access to SWIFT. I was hoping for these kind of breakthroughs years ago, I just didn't expect they will be coming so soon.

I think it's mostly due to them trying to be technologically independent from the West, so focus is more on enterprise workload. I'm in major tech company. Since 2014 we lost some big clients in Russia because they switched to Chinese and Russian brewed tech. I'm convinced is not as effective as our tech but I guess it works for them. They never looked back.

Well, when you look at China's budget, 20 bill is not that much tbh. -
Now if they'd make 17', that would be pretty cool. I need sth bigger for working on the go.

That 5800x looks neat but I think I'll keep my 1920x for two more years or so.

From my understanding Optane stays with Intel. -
Apple is slowly becoming one of the only companies that makes decently sized high end phones alongside Samsung. I love that 5.5 - 6.1 inch range for screens.

IBM Finally Abandons Mainframe Division After 100 Years Of Operations
DaRk0 replied to duomaxattacks's topic in Tech News
Well, I wouldn't say abandoned. These are just managed infrastructure services which means clients that rent Z as IaaS. Also note that IBM's managed services have more offerings than just Z in their portfolio. On prem IBM Z clients are staying with IBM and there are few new offerings coming to on prem clients that I can't talk about at this moment, but they might be publicly announced soon.
