So, according to Nvidia, the GTX 750 (non-Ti) and 950 support 8-bit VP9 encoding, as they're both 2nd gen Maxwell. Other than that, the 1030 would probably suit your needs.

You do realize that for buying both a 1050Ti and 1060 you could have gotten yourself a 1080, right?

I'd say hate is the wrong word. I'd say i just don't care about apple at all, I'm not interested into having any business with this company whatsoever. In a nutshell because Apple sells overpriced garbage and treats their customers like slaves. Even pondering really hard, I can't think of a single positive thing to say about Apple.

Since I can get a better and most likely even less expensive alternative for anything that Apple could offer me from another manufacturer/brand, Apple could disappear tomorrow or stay for another 100 years. It wouldn't change anything, Apple is just one of the least important companies in IT history.

Okay last try here. It is a bad card because you can get way better value for the same money:

Well in this case it is more powerful. The 1060 actually slightly beats the 970. But who cares about component names? I mean if they'd release the new fastest card and call it "potato" I'd still buy it because your experience is defined by performance and not by the product name/branding.

@Raj Bharath.S leave it be. This is really old stuff. There is probably not much of a market for the parts - and even if you could frankenstein a working unit out of the remains you're probably way better off running a raspberry pi.

better get 1070ti or 1080 because of the price. 970 SLI adds another 150w power draw and SLI support is hit or miss in other games, while 1070 is just 10% cheaper than 1070ti and 1080 which are 15-20% faster.

While I don't believe that the CX750M buildquality is "far" superior I'm not argueing about relative build quality here. All I'm sayiong is that the OPs PSU build quality is way more than good enough.

That build's power draw is not even remotely close to 750W it is not even scratching the 500W mark. So no it is not dangerous.

1st of all 750W is *WAAAAY* overpowered for that build or most other gaming rigs you see around except those running SLI. You can expect that EVGA PSU to have solid build quality. It does exactly what the CXM750W would do - supply the computer with power. There is literally no real-world advantage of swapping that PSU with the one you mentioned. If OP has excess money he'd be way better of investing that into another stick of RAM, than in an oversized PSU.

Go for the 1070, 970 SLI doesn't make sense and the 1060, memory aside, will barely be an upgrade.

Just thought I would report back.   I ended up getting an AX860i model for a good price.   Tested power draw using Corsair link this time.   Max reporting in system with CPU and both GPUs overclocked was 730 Watts system usage with 806 being pulled from the wall.

taobao.com has released this GPU-Z screenshot of an RX 480 (see below). Telling from the numbers it might outperform a GTX980, delivering a 26% higher Texture-Fillrate and 14% higher memory bandwith. Also the 8GB of memory will be a nice improvement over the GTX 980s 4GB.

Interesting detail I noticed: The card doesn't seem to be supporting DirectX 12.1 but only DirectX 12.0.

I can help here with some real world testing.  I have ben getting Sudden Shutdowns on my system with the cards overclocked so I put a Kill-o-watt on it to measure draw just a couple days ago.

    I am running a 5820K Oced at 1.275V and two EVGA 980Ti SC+ models.

At full running Firestrike with the GPUs not OCed I was pushing 750Watts at times.   If I put any OC on them this would spike closer to 800 before the system would shut down.   My conclusion is that my AX860 is at best borderline for this type of configuration and it is time to upgrade to a 1000 Watt of some sort.

Well it's not actually about cheaping out. The 980Ti SLI is nice to have but IMO not worth the additional PSU upgrade.  As you can see in the video I linked above the 980Ti SLI Setup running Crysis 3 on 90-95% load on both SLI GPUs only seems to require at most 511 Watts to be delivered by a PSU.

@App4that: Awesome, thanks for the link. Apparently "TechShowdown" has measured a maximum power draw from the wall of about 611 Watts. Assuming his PSU has an utopian efficiency of 95% this means the actual power draw of his system was ~575W under full stress. If we assume a more likely 90% efficiency it would even be only ~550W. If those numbers are correct one should not be able to overload a 600W PSU with a 980TI 2-way SLI (except maybe with crazy OC's or using Hexa-/Octacore CPUs).

norritt got a reaction from Kryptyx in 980Ti SLI owners - Call for power draw measurements
No, 600W is the amount of power the PSU is able to deliver to the system, this means after AC to DC conversion. So the amount of power drawn from the wall will always be higher than what is actually delivered to the system. Some shoddy vendors might label their PSUs according to how much power they will draw from the wall but no reputable PSU vendor will do so.

Love the idea, but man I hated this video. I was so excited when I heard you were doing this video. You should have done much more research into the parts. As entertaining as it is sometimes, it would be nice to look up to you and your projects. I think people should look at your projects and say "Wow that is cool. I want to do something cool that works." I don't think people like thinking "Wow, Linus keeps failing/doing a terrible job at these projects." Not that you have been failing a bunch, but failure of projects/the number of technical difficulties are increasing and it's just getting more frustrating to watch. This Part 1 should not have been posted. Should have scrapped it all and started over once you had an actual idea about what you were doing and possibly changed the parts so they actually work and aren't freaking hot glued, ground down, and ripped apart! Some people would like to do the projects you are doing but don't want to take these big risks like majorly modding/hacking their materials. Some people just want something that they can put together without a workshop and possibly ruining their hardware. I love the creativity but want something that we can possibly do as well without a team and a bunch of extra hardware.
With that being said, I do really appreciate your videos (almost every time) and please ignore the haters and just be your self; but be a little professional please.

Noisecancellation-tech is no good to remove non-static background noise. So it'll not help against a screaming sister. All you can do is get closed over ear headphones with good dampening but even this will fade th noise out to a certain degree. So if you really want to block her out completely darkyoshis idea of dampening the source is not that far off
