Sometimes my dad is super annoying when it comes to physics/science related topics. Being an engineer he obviously knows a lot of stuff, and often explains things to me very well when I have a question, but he often feels the need to explain something in a lot of detail even if he doesn't know much about it himself or I already know it. It's especially annoying when he goes on about computers. I literally had this conversation about heat sinks and how they work.

Dad: "So what are you doing there?"
Me: "Reattaching the fan on my cpu heat sink."
Dad: "What's the heat sink for?"
Me: "It keeps the the CPU from overheating by transferring the heat from the CPU to the fins, where the fan, which creates airflow, then cools the heat sink"
(at this point I was starting to get agitated because I just wanted to finish my dang build)
Dad: "You know how it works right?"
Me: "Yes, yes I do know how it works, I just told y---"
Dad: "Well you see....(insert 10 minute explanation of how it works with me replying "yes, I know" every 10 seconds)
            ...So that's how it works."
    Me: "Yeah, I know that."
Dad; *walks away feeling like he passed on some great advice to his son*
    Me:*looks down at my dog*
"I'm gonna kneel down. When I do, just bite me in the neck and kill me now"

I didn't call Mac users stupid, thank you very much. I'm also quite curious as to how Macs are "way better for music production, video editing and modeling." There is no "better" operating system for those tasks. If anything, Macs and PCs are equally good for those tasks (setting aside the hardware aspect). All the best programs for such tasks are compatible with both Windows and Mac. The operating system doesn't make those tasks more efficient or better than another operating system, it relies on the program itself. Your argument is invalid.

I was at my church's youth group and the leader asked people to raise their hand if they like Macs better than PCs. There were at least 50 people in that room and I was the only one who didn't raise my hand.

I think you're in a very small minority there. Most people I come across use the term "Google it" instead of "Search for it" or something similar.

You may be surprised how many trademarks are actually genericized (or rather, close to it) and have just become the word for that thing. Videotape, Trampoline, Escalator and Sellotape are all genericized trademarks. They get to a point where they become the accepted and most commonly used term.

OT: I know I'll never be able to afford it but I look forward to seeing how this pushed the market for workstations. I was already happy about the added oomph small scale youtubers and such would have with the R7's, this new lineup is legit for those wanting to do heavier duty work at a discount compared to intel.

Except LoL, Dota2 and CS:GO are the most played games around.  If the APU can run that competently at 1080p in a small-ish laptop, that's going to be rather appealing to the college-age set.  Is it not?  Also, that 4c8t chip means they can also down-tune very easily to save power.  (That's where a lot of the modern efficiency has been found, aside from the process shrink.)

"Enough" computer power is really important in laptops.  This looks to be that.

Good to see people comparing the r7 chips to the correct Intel counterparts. People comparing a big 8 core workstation CPU to a smaller gaming focused SKU is getting really old. I know the r7's are priced around 7700k levels, but they're not a direct competitor.  The smaller 4/6c Ryzens will likely overclock better and compete more directly, especially with fast RAM.

Considering that Disney owns Marvel and Star Wars, they might as well print their own money. They don't need Apple. They might actually buy Apple in 10 years or so.

Also TweakTown can sod off with their "watch 30 sec video" that you can't skip. It's like they haven't been already bad with their journalism in recent time.
