gundamMC got a reaction from cameron shanks in Making a Google Assistant.....
I've been working on a project that basically creates virtual assistants through deep learning. Here's the link to it if you want to check it out: https://www.animius.org/ (or Github at https://github.com/gundamMC/Animius).
It's still in dev so some things may not work yet.

gundamMC got a reaction from poorboy in $600 Chinese Shady Build - P106 + E2146G + Modded Z170X
With all the LTT videos on Chinese computer parts, I've decided to make a $600 semi-budget build (you could technically achieve the same performance under $500) using mostly parts from China, including the featured P106 and a modded Gigabyte z170x gaming 3 motherboard. Although it is supposed to be a budget build, I did buy some parts with future expansion in mind since I will be using it as a server. (maybe another p106? lol)
The only components brought from China were the CPU, motherboard, and graphics card. The case being too heavy to ship, and I did not want my PSU to explode. The other components had relatively the same prices as in China.
Specs:
CPU: E2146G
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 3
RAM: Single G.Skill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2666
GPU: Gigabyte NVIDIA P106-100
Storage: Crucial mx500 512GB
PSU: Corsiar CX550
CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 33 eSports ONE
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C (not really budget but it looks really good )
E2146G and Z170X
The e-2146g (https://ark.intel.com/products/134866/Intel-Xeon-E-2146G-Processor-12M-Cache-up-to-4-50-GHz-) is basically a new "E3" series processor which requires the new C246 chipset motherboard. The motherboard requirement, however, can be easily bypassed. By modding the bios and preventing contacts of a few pins, the e-2146g can be installed on any 1151 board. For instance, you could put it in a B150 motherboard and use DDR3. They also support "AMD only" DDR3 ram, which are basically ram chips from old-server-ram soldered onto new pcbs. These rams are surprisingly cheap at about 50% of regular ddr3 prices. The cheaper ones could go to about $15 for a single DDR3 8G 1600. Nevertheless, I went for a Z170X which requires normal DDR4 ram for better upgradability (which ended up costing 40 dollars more). The motherboard costed about $70. It was pre-modified to support all 6, 7, 8-gen and E21xx CPUs, thus costing $20 more than a non-modded z170x gaming 3.
Meanwhile, the e2146g costed around $180. The specs are pretty much identical to the Intel page except that it runs at 3.4Ghz and turbos up to 4.3Ghz.

You guys probably have already seen it a million times so I will not say too much about it. The graphic card looks OK other than the dusts in the heatsink. Temperatures are alright with about 30 degrees Celsius on idle and 50-ish when gaming.

gundamMC got a reaction from Turtle Rig in Worth the change? 480 4g vs 1060 6gb
Tensorflow (a really popular deep learning library) requires CUDA. This is also pretty much the same across other libraries such as pytorch. So, if you are doing deep learning, I would really suggest a NVIDIA gpu.
That said, if you really want to stick with the 480, there's the ROCm port (https://github.com/ROCmSoftwarePlatform/tensorflow-upstream) which allows it to run on AMD gpus.

Or go download a template and edit it. You could just change the text (no code required) in a static HTML template or use something like Wordpress that has page builders (literally drag and drop).
Hosting with a FTP-based cloud server is extremely simple and much cheaper than the mentioned services like wix.

The minimum gpu for vr should be around a gtx1060 6g (depending on the game).

That case has AWFUL air flow and you shouldn't buy it unless you're planning on getting one of those custom front panels. Get an Enthoo Pro M TG or a Meshify C instead. Hell, even a P400S or an S340 Elite.

gundamMC reacted to Crunchy Dragon in Best fans for H115i?
I would personally get the Corsair ML fans, going by all the reviews I've read/seen, they're the quietest on the market even at full RPM. Good static pressure too.

gundamMC got a reaction from Watashi in Personal opinions on RGB....
RGB on mouse & keyboard looks pretty nice. As for the components, I don't really care since my pc is under my desk and I really can't see anything unless I put my head down there. I mean, if you have the space to put it on your desk the build might actually look a lot better w/ RGB but I just don't have the space to fit it w/ my 4 monitors

I name mine w/ gundams & ships (from the gundam series ofc).
I.e. Archangel from Seed, Exia from 00, and Barbatos from iron orphans.
Not that much of a reason to it, they just sound cool I guess. Oh, and I also name my usb drives that way too.

SATA is hot swappable if the motherboard supports it. The only issue here is the running operating system and programs.

gundamMC got a reaction from CuriousBro in I'm a little lost. My potential monitor vs. my current TV..
Not sure what the "vertigos" are... Like screen tearing or just blurry image?
The tv has "120 CMR" according to its amazon page. After some google searches I would guess that's around 60hz?
Response time was not given but I'll assume that it's more than 4ms?
Then the new monitor would help w/ the blur judging from the refresh rate and response time.

gundamMC got a reaction from Yohaennes in How hot may a H100i get?
Depends on what temp you want your cpu to be at. I have my H115 fans at quiet mode in Corsair link (basically a gradual increase all the way until 40 degrees and then remain at 60%). The temps go up to around 40-50ish when under load and the noise are somewhat reasonable.
I don't think the temperature would high enough to damage the pump.. I mean, they're designed to cool a 100-degree CPU and anything beyond that point would just cause the system to shut down.
Yeah that's fine.
