I currently use a 1080p 60hz monitor and a GTX 770 2GB in my setup. I've been considering Getting a new GPU since the 970 came out but have held off because I knew something better would come out, and at the time I wasn't looking to play any major AAA titles. With newer and more demanding titles coming out I've decided that I may as well buy myself a new GPU.
Now when it comes to the monitor, while still in great condition, I'm considering getting a better one because I feel that a 1070 would be overkill for the one I have. Plus I REALLY REALLY want 144hz and If I'm getting a new monitor with better FPS I may as well get one with a better resolution too. The problem I feel I face is that the idea of spending roughly $1,000 on anything thing makes me physically ill.
So, do I buy a new GTX 1070 or do I get a new monitor (Not sure what one) first? Which ever one I don't by this Christmas I'll probably buy next September for my birthday.
