  1. Is it possible to have the Shield TV output a "custom" resolution of 1920x1080 @ 120hz, even though the attached display - a BenQ TK800 - does not report over HDMI that it supports it? It should, as 1080p120 is officially supported by the projector, as specified in the manual, but it doesnt. On the PC I just had to setup a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel for it to work as expected. On Android this is obviously not that simple. I know resolution and dpi can be configured via adb, but I´ve not found a way to influence the refresh rate yet. I´ve purchased the Shield TV based on the recommendations made in the recent LTT video, and while I´m quite happy with the streaming capabilities, I also want to try gamestream. It works quite well, with Moonlight even at 120fps, but if the Shield only outputs at 60hz this does me very little good, and I'd rather hook up my PC directly via HDMI cable again.

    HDMI to USB-C

Said hub did not work, unfortunately. Neither of the 2 USB-C female connectors on it seem to provide a display signal. The display doesnt even turn on. Windows reports a failed USB device detection. When connecting the male connector of the hub to the display and connecting the PD enabled female port to the laptop the display backlight turns on, but egain no picture. I´m quite baffled that this seems to be a use case the thousands of adapters and cables out there do not cover.

    HDMI to USB-C

Thank you for the comprehensive answer! Pointed me in the right direction, although a full solution is not on the map yet. HDMI to DP converters (either cable or dedicated adapter) can be had for quite cheap - I dont need the audio - but they all seem to be designed to go into a powered display rather than a USB-C powered one. A DP (female) to USB-C (male) adapter with external power could solve this, I think, but I`ve been unable to find one. They all just pass through the DP signal. I´ll be testing this USB-C hub with the laptop: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B079NTPNS6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It provides 2 USB-C ports, one with power delivery. The non-pd port might just work to connect the display to ... Damn, I only have a 1080ti and no good reason to upgrade to a 20 series card yet. Spending 1200€ just to get a USB-C port with display & power is not happening.
  4. Greetings, I´m looking for a way to connect a HDMI 2.0 source to a portable display that only has a single USB-C port for inputs and nothing else (also no power connector). All I seem to be able to find are hubs and adapters that connect USB-C/TB3 to HDMI. The display connects to my laptop just fine via the USB-C/TB3 port, but then I can't charge the laptop at the same time. Also it doesn't work when connected to the USB-C port of my Crosshair VII Hero. So I´m searching for a more general solution based on using HDMI as the input. For example, part of my home theater setup is a HDMI splitter that takes in a single HDMI cable, has its own dedicated 5V power supply, and outputs HDMI plus the split audio on several other ports (optical, etc). That's what (I think) I need, but with USB-C as the output.
