NerdNinja got a reaction from da na in Experiences with non-techies
Hey, hope you don't mind me asking but can you show me how to set up a gmod server? I couldn't find any tutorials for gmod 13. Also port forwarding scars me shitless....

I think that it's worse when you build a PC for a friend and it end's up not working so then they want to kill you for something they spent 1K on

At my school CAD, Inventor and Revit work fine until you wan't to render something. I let a section of a project in revit, a car that I wanted to prove was bumblebee from transformers, and I let it render for the entire class that's about an hour and a half and it didn't get a single pixel looking like it should. Also there is a total of ONE 1080p screen in the whole school aside from the Macs

Doesn't todays most powerful computer take 40 min to simulate one second of brain activity? I might be wrong but I think that's what I read somewhere.

Well it did but the cord didn't
I think it was one of my first posts on the forum but I requested a good PC. Two people commented with part lists. So with my limited knowledge I choose the best parts from the two lists and ended up with a pretty good build....Except for the fact that the CPU was a Xeon and the motherboard had a AM3+ socket...I facepalmed myself when I found out that it would not work and why. Memories indeed.

I go wired whenever possible. My dad and I actually cut a hole in my wall and routed a cable to our router even though my room is like 10ft away.

I can verify this. When I was building my friend's rig we had to take the cpu out and the paste made it like glue.
What mods? Just curious

I think that's how most of us learned. I remember one I had a small cheapo radio that stopped working. I took it apart and when I couldn't fix it threw it away. A few minuets later I hear a sound coming out of the garbage where I threw it away. The thing was half taken apart and was WORKING! I was completely baffled.

NerdNinja reacted to Shiv78 in [US - Newegg] CM MasterLiquid 240 AIO $65 US
US Newegg. Not sure if it's available elsewhere. One of, if not the, cheapest decent-ish 240mm AIO from a good company - only 65 USD. (IK there was an Enermax one for $40 a few days ago.)
Not sure how long the sale will last, but a great budget option for a 7700K, R5 1600/R7 1700(X)/1800X, or upcoming Coffeelake if the bracket is upgradeable like AM4 was recently.

Advice: If you want to git gud, don't waste your time with VS. It trains you in all the wrong ways. Throw yourself into the deep end with Battle Royale and Squadron Battle. It'll teach you much faster and better.
Also, if anything, the PU's NPCs are the easiest of the bunch.
