    I just looked up how to check if trim is enabled, and according to my computer, it is. It also looks like it was re-trimmed about 9 days ago, so I'm not sure if that will solve the problem.

    I don't use a hard drive, I use an SSD(860 Evo 500gb), so I'm not sure if defragging will help the situation. I ran the chckdsk, but it did not fix it either. The ssd hass 70 gigs left.

    Here are my specs: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3 G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (3200) Ryzen 7 2700x EVGA Nvidia GTX 970 Asus ROG Strix B450-F Windows is installed on my Samsung 860 EVO 500g The problem has been going on for a few months, I just finally am sick of it.

    Hello everyone, I have had this problem for a few months now, and have finally gotten tired of trying solutions I read online that have not been working. Here's the issue: File explorer crashes a lot and is often extremely slow when it does work. Usually it will work fine when I start up my computer, but often the problem starts up when I use any program to access files on my computer (ie. Choosing exporting destination in FL studio). I notice when it happens usually because all of the icons on my desktop suddenly start using the default icon instead of previewing their contents (Folders will just show empty folders, and any other program/file type will just be the blank paper icon). Trying to access the file explorer from the task bar becomes impossible because i have to wait for it to open up for a few minutes. The only way I can access my folders by this point is through clicking on an existing one on my desktop, which opens right away for the most part. Some places seem inaccessible like the "my pc" button, because it will not ever load when I click on it. These places will just have the green loading bar (where the file path is displayed) never quite get to full. Right clicking anywhere becomes a deathtrap. If I wanna right click to get a files' properties, or create a new folder on my desktop, I am greeted by the loading wheel on my mouse. At that point, if I click anywhere on my desktop, file explorer will crash and then instantly reboot (and not fix itself in the process). This problem seems to stop occassionally for a few minutes at a time if I don't touch anything for a while, but for the most part is a major problem anytime I want to use my computer. WHAT I HAVE TRIED: -Disabling all context menus -Resetting my folders -Clearing File Explorer history -doing sfc /scannow Most tutorials seem to repeat all the other ones I have seen, and I'm not sure they are exactly addressing the same problem that I am currently having. If you have had this problem and have found a fix for it, please let me know what to do or link me to a solution that you have found works for you. Let me know if any of you need more information.     I'll give it a shot. I have signed up for insider builds. For some reason my computer is running smoothly right now after this start up. I likely will still update when I have the build available. Also, lots of my apps have been logged out of, is this wierd?

    Update: I have tried updating drivers and some minor windows updates and nothing has helped. Complete restarts have been made and still nothing

    Well it seems I don't have the option to roll back due to the last update being over 10 days old.

    Hello everyone, Yesterday, i started up my computer to find that it was running slowly. As I was watching videos, chrome became unresponsive. Not long after all of my computer programs became unresponsive and I couldn't load anything up. Even my whole computer was freezing up; like desktop and mouse freezing. I restarted my pc and the problem persisted, I checked my ram usage and found it at 100%. I checked task manager, and no programs seemed to be taking up more than 200 mb of ram. I tried just re-inserting my my ram and that seemed to temporarily settle down my ram usage, but it didn't fix all the lag and program crashes. Eventually, the usage has gone back up. I've waited a day and restarted. Nothing has changed. Right now I'm posting on my phone because my computer is just frozen at this point. I would appreciate any help you all can give.     Hey y'all, I watched Linus's video on the Lenovo Flex this morning, and also happened to be in the market for a budget laptop. I started looking around and found the ThinkPad E595 with a Ryzen 7 3700U for only about $580 dollars. This seemed like a great deal to me with all of its features (15.6 in IPS screen, 8gb ram, etc). I was wondering if the deal is actually as good as I made it out to be. It seems to be a huge upgrade from the Flex shown in Linus's video. I can't find too many reviews for it so I'm not sure about the quality of the product. Any input on it would greatly appreciated. If you happen to own the laptop that would be a cool bonus!     Thank you so much for your reply. I think I'm going to go with the Pixel 3axl, because it has a the 3700mah battery over the regular model. I think I can save the extra 70 dollars or so and put that towards something else. Like you said, I'm planning on keeping the phone for a while and will appreciate a lengthy support cycle from google. Knowing me I might try to wait and swoop in for a deal for like 10 dollars off, so I don't think I'm in too much of a rush to buy the phone yet. If I have a change of heart or someone else chimes in with something to completely change my mind I still have some wiggle room. Thanks again

    Hey y'all, I'm planning on getting a new phone because my axon 7 is about to kick the bucket anytime soon. I want to go with a cheaper phone and saw that the pixel 3a xl is a good fit for my needs. Right now, the S10e is currently $550 dollars on Amazon, and I am wondering if it worth the extra $70 dollars for the upgraded hardware. My use for the phone probably won't surpass youtube and pokemon go on the occasion. The 3a xl apparently still has the better camera according to some reviews I read, and the battery life is much higher. I feel like the only drawback to getting the pixel would be that the quality of material used on the phone is not as protective as the s10e. But I think I could just get a nice case and screen protector. If anyone has input on how much better the battery life is on the pixel and the difference between the cameras that would be greatly appreciated. Other than that, any input would be all I need to make a decision. Thanks!

    Here's my situation. As of a few days ago, my computer was working perfectly normally and was completely fine. For the past few weeks, I have been running this Minecraft server for my friends and I to play on. A few days ago, all of a sudden, my chrome browser begins to have issues while my server is running. It gives me the "aw snap" message and crashes. I thought that this might have been a temporary issue, and decided to shut down the server for the day and restart my computer. Upon restarting, everything seemed to work fine when I was running chrome with a few tabs between my monitors. I decided to play a game and watch a video at the same time and discovered more problems. The game would either crash after a while or chrome would give the error message again and crash itself. Fast forward to today, and the problem has just amplified. Games won't load up on their own without crashing or bugging out, and I can barely even keep one tab of chrome up without it crashing. I am making sure to copy this post every few seconds just in case chrome crashes while I am writing it. I tested to see what would happen if I booted up my server again, and was prompted with the message "Error occurred during initialization of VM, Could not reserve enough space for object heap". Also, sometimes chrome said it could not reserve enough memory for the page. Yet despite all of this, my memory usage was still only around 35%. I can hardly launch anything now and it's really frustrating because I build it a month ago. A quick note is that I had this same problem on my old pc when I ran a server, but only figured that it was just my computer finally biting the dust after 5 years. Now I think it's a problem with the server but have found no reports on a similar issue anywhere else. I am posting this here to ask if anyone has had a similar problem with their memory or computer.     I am shopping on amazon or newegg, located in the U.S. I would prefer to have an rgb cpu cooler, but am still open to other options that are good for cooling.

    I have the hd598's and I believe both of our headphones are open back. Seeing as you have open back headphones, and my computer is under my desk, I don't think only 2 of those fans shouldn't be a problem for me. Thanks for the help.

    I have a phanteks p350x case with a 2700x and 16gb (8x2) tridentx 3200mhz ram. I'm shopping on amazon, and I do plan to replace my cpu cooler eventually. I'm asking about the fans because I am still only using the 1 included intake fan with the case and want to improve the airflow. I was wondering about the noise because when I do replace my cpu cooler with something quieter, I want the total noise to be relatively low (combination of new fans and cpu cooler). I was looking at the Cooler Master Master Air MA410M. My budget is probably like less than $80 for a cpu cooler and like $30 per fan. I'm pretty sure im getting the previously mentioned noctua fans, but if you have any other recommendations for different fans or a cpu cooler I'd be happy to hear.

    Hey sorry for the later reply, but I currently have the prism cooler for my CPU, and that goes up to around 44 dB. I see that the Noctua fan goes to around 31.5. I feel like that's a big difference. I have my computer positioned under my desk and can hear the cpu fan quite loudly. How well can you hear the Noctua fan? I'm not super picky on the noise, but If I can hear them loudly with open back headphones on from my computer under my desk, I may not go for them.

    Hey everybody, I'm looking to add some new fans in my case, because I currently have only one stock intake fan that came with my Phanteks p350x. Currently, I am deciding between the Be Quiet! silent wings 3, and the Corsair Ml140's. I am wondering what the better of the two is for intake cooling options. I keep finding conflicting opinions about these fans. I know there are many other good intake fans, and if there are any that you feel passionate about, go ahead and tell me about them, I am open to any opinions about your favorite fans. I am mostly looking for a fan that isn't noisy, has pretty good static pressure for intake airflow, and looks decent (not Noctua brown, just like a solid black or something). Hopefully, yall can help me figure this one out. Thanks, -Earn

    Hey Guys, So I routed a long ethernet cord into my room a while back, but am looking to hook up multiple devices to ethernet within this space. I was looking into buying an ethernet switch but forgot that I had an extra router sitting around. My current modem is one of those 2 in 1's that are able to function to provide wifi, so that's where my ethernet is currently connected. I'm not interested in setting up a new wifi hotspot in my room, and just want to use the router to split my ethernet connections, is this possible? If not, I would probably just buy an ethernet switch, but I hear that you need to plug it into a router and not the modem. If my modem functions as both a modem and a router, will it work if I connect my switch to it? Thanks, -Earn

    I just downloaded HWMonitor, and it is reporting an idle temperature to be around 41.6 Celcius, which can be better once I buy some more case fans. But, I think it is fine for now. Thank you for the software recommendation, I think speccy was just completely reading my system incorrectly.

    Hello Everybody, I just set up my new pc and have been messing around with it and downloading all of my programs and such. I decided to download speccy to check out the temps on my 2700x while I was using its stock cooler. The idle temps seemed to range anywhere between 90-110 degrees Celsius and I got pretty confused. I looked it up, and apparently speccy and some other programs do not read ryzen cpu temps correctly, and that It is likely wrong. I downloaded amd overdrive in order to check on these, but ended up with a blue screen, likely because I hadn't actually installed my amd chipset drivers. After restoring my pc, I have also found out that overdrive is not meant for ryzen cpu's, is this correct? If so, what program should I install to monitor temps accurately? And, if this persists, what could be the source of the problem? and how should I go about fixing it? -Earn

    Hello, So, I have been meaning to build a new computer for a while now. I have all the parts except for a new graphics card. I want to do a fresh install of windows 10 on the new ssd I have bought, but already have it on another drive. I heard that I could deactivate windows on the old boot drive and activate it on the new ssd. Is this possible? If so, if I want to access all the old files from that drive, could I put it in my new computer as a non-boot drive and access all the files from there? I would like to transfer some files into the new ssd before wiping it as a new storage drive. Will the installation of a non-activated windows account interfere with the old drive being recognized as extra storage? If this method of installing a new os with the same registration key is not possible, I would like some help figuring out how to go about doing so. Another thing to note is that I have a separate hard drive that I use for game storage, but have backed up a few files I wouldn't want to lose on there. I can back up some files there if the solution requires it. Thanks, Earn
