  1. Over on Reddit, there has been some anger regarding some of Riot's patents; http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1x3v1u/riot_games_granted_us_patent_on_spectator_mode/ Riot games has made an official response to this over on their website; http://www.riotgames.com/articles/20140206/1165/no-interest-using-patents-offensively The company says it has no interest in acting aggressively with its patents on features such as a spectator mode, but instead patents out these things to avoid the patent trolls. I think this speaks tons about just how broken the patent system is. We have dishonest people and companies destroying competition with patents. Pharmaceutical companies refuse to research any life-saving medicine that isn't patentable, and will in many cases market drugs that they have a patent on that is less effective than a generic drug on which they don't. Now every major company effectively has to patent all of their features, and then we have to trust these companies not to start patent trolling other companies. I love that the message links to a website where you can do something about it: https://defendinnovation.org/ I've already added my signature to the list, and I encourage all of you to do that same. Maybe one day, we can get the patent system working well again.
  2. The gameplay looks promising, as long as it doesn't end up having the same God-of-War horrible rip-off combat present in another, similar looking Sonic game from a while back. If we get another Werehog I'm going to punch a baby. Hopefully Sega just focuses on the one thing 3D Sonic games have done well, speed. If there are any enemies, you should not have to stop in order to fight them.
  3. I have a dreadful feeling that this is going to end like Final Fantasy's first movie adaptation.
  4. http://www.cbc.ca/asithappens/features/2014/02/04/canadian-band-skinny-puppy-claims-its-music-used-for-torture-at-guantanamo/ The music isn't the worst thing in the world, but I can see how having that blasted at you would make it impossible to sleep and basically drive a person insane. The sounds are heavy, repetitive and uses an large amount of dissonant (ugly sounding) chords.
  5. I kinda doubt this is Anonymous. While it's true technically "anyone" can join Anonymous, they stand for certain things and have specific ideals. Anonymous stands for freedom of information, freedom of speech, general humanitarian justice (as they see it) and doing funny stuff for shits and giggles. This is putting people's lives at stack, so it's definitely not the last one. The FBI has many inhumane practices, but considering nothing large-scale has happened recently I have serious doubts this was done on a humanitarian basis. This seems like some stupid group who has a sort of vendetta against the FBI or thinks death is funny and has simply taken up the name Anonymous as either a move to be part of a group, undermine Anon for more shits and giggles or possibly even to scapegoat Anon. There have been multiple times where groups that seemed to do things unrelated to Anon ideals, or even the complete opposite of them have taken on the moniker, but I would not truly consider them "Anon (anymore than I would consider a Lenninist a member of the Tea Party.)
  6. I think not, simply because it seems not enough people care about internet privacy. On that note, I purpose we show spread this comic to create awareness.
  7. Darn, well, thanks for the help everyone. Perhaps I'll look into a waterproof keyboard surface or maybe just being more careful.
  8. Title. I'm horrible in regards to spils on my keyboard so I was wondering whether mechanical keyboards are any more spill resistant than membrane keyboards. It'd be kinda sad to buy a $130 mechanical keyboard and ruin it with a water spill (like I did to my $90 membrane.) Thank you for the help
  9. As a Windows 8 user, I can safely say I won't be buying a new, prebuilt computer until Windows 9. Windows 8 feels like using a library computer, it just locks you out of doing so many things. I've tried installing Ubuntu 3 times, which I did easily on my Windows 7 computer. The new OS just makes dealing with your computer an absolute nightmare, it has so many things that make it feel like it's not actually your computer (why yes, I would love to have ten* times as many preinstalled applications!) *=number may or may not have been pulled out of my ***.
