  1. Hey Guys, I'm currently modding a Macintosh Classic to a modernish PC. Now that I'm nearing to finish this project I'm searching for a good looking keyboard that will suit it well. I've already modded an "Apple Desktop Bus Mouse" to be wireless and compatible. So if anyone out there has a good recommendation to buy without breaking the bank, feel free to post them here. I would also appreciate, if you have suggestions of building custom keyboards (with partlists) or some guide of modding old ones to be USB or wireless. Those three keyboards i have found and thought about them, but the DURGOD ones are too expensive for me.
  2. Hey guys, please tell me if there is a better section for my topic. Starting with my problem: I won an auction of a macintosh classic, which isnt working. (was expecting it since it was pretty cheap) The system has mainly 2 issues: First it is missing its ROM Chip, which is pretty annoying since i cant find any replacement online (living in europe). So can anyone tell me where to get such specific parts? (341-0813 Apple Rom-Chip) Second problem is the main issue of almost all of the broken macintosh classic: it had a leaky battery ruining circuits on the board and the tray it is sitting on. The tray i already fixed but i unfortunatly have absolutely no experience in board repair. I started brushing of the gunk with a toothbrush and some isopropan alcohol. The fotos i attached of the damage were taken afterwards, can you tell me if this is fixable (by a professional and not myself) or shouldnt i even try? (I'm thinking of building a modernish PC in it instead, but i try to avoid this, when I can rescue the poor little guy) Thanks in advance
  3. @TofuHaroto @desertcomputer Thanks for the quick reply guys! I think I should wait and not impulse buy a new processor then
  4. Currently having an 8600k with a gtx 1080 for 1080p 144hz gaming I'd like to upgrade to a 3070 if the benchmarks are as nvidia promises. As i upgrade my gpu i'd also like to go for a new processor. Basically i got 3 or 4 options in mind: 1: since i already got the right board i could go with the i7 9700k which is, where i live, around 320€. 2: for the same reason the i9 9900k for 440€ 3: ryzen 7 3700x 280€ + b550 board i chose 180€ (has pcie gen4. any difference?) (4: is to wait for ryzen 4th gen) For cooling i have a 240mm rad aio from corsair i know that waiting for next gen (especially with ryzen) is always the best option but if you were me what would you do? Keep in mind that I am considering it now because if I choose to get the i7 9700k i have to purchase it now off of amazon because prices will go up since amazon is now selling their last stock
  5. i dont like those keyboards where the arrow keys are cramped in on the side like on laptops those are called 60% as i know so as long as those have a dedicated space im ok with it and yeah i know that its just the print but i find it very confusing because with german layout you got the öäü keys and because of that all special characters are somewhere else. i now have a custom keycap set for like a year or so and i cant really enjoy it because of that budget: 150-170 but if its more expensive send it maybe im considering it
  6. I never burnt my fingers even when playing Divinity 2 or Metro Redux, but I remember it being cold in the morning since it is made out of aluminum ? When playing light games like the old most wanted or trackmania it was quite quiet and teachers never noticed I was playing ?.
  7. consider just changing thermal paste could be an easy and cheap fix edit: and if you decide to change cooler afterwards you will need it anyway
  8. if it's not your main rig for gaming you could consider the Asus Zenbook Pro series. Sure it won't have a good cooling solution as its gaming counterparts, but when I picked up a laptop for school like 3 years ago, I went with the Asus Zenbook pro ux501vw it has i7-6700hq and gtx960m and till today it fits my needs and I'm glad it does not look too "gaming". So if you find something similar but modern I can recommend it to you. But keep in mind if you plan to have a lot of long gaming sessions it might thermal throttle. edit: mine is a 15" model 13" models might have thermal issues
  9. ok so which keyboard would you recommend me, that has a wireless option (for on the go use), tenkeyless, comes with German layout (QWERTZ) and maybe even got rgb? I found some Logitech ones I like (like G Pro which isn't wireless?) but other than that I cant think of any other keyboard that caught my interest. edit: if not wireless, at least with detachable not proprietary cable to switch between pcs more easily
  10. Ok that's interesting since I didn't have any problems so far with iCUE and I'm not using it just for the keyboard (AIO, Fans) The only thing I have to concern is that they updated it long time ago and my profiles were gone but since then the software improved so much I wasn't even mad. Thanks for the quick response! ?
  11. Coming from a Corsair Strafe RGB mk1, I'm about to pull the trigger and buy a Cooler Master sk630, because I like the idea of low profile switches, the design as well as the tenkeyless layout. Since every new tech got it's weaknesses I'm wondering what are your long term experiences with it or at least with cherry mx low profile switches. Also it would be nice if you can tell me if the Cooler Master Software is at least usable, since iCUE is quite good and I think I might gonna miss it.
