Shiv78 reacted to DrMacintosh in Earbuds for work?
Any wireless earbuds that you use for 8hrs a day, 5 days a week will wear out in two years. Just a warning before spending a lot on a new pair.

Shiv78 got a reaction from Kid.Lazer in HDMI to DP adapter
Why don't you swap the PC to the DP port and use HDMI for the two consoles? From what I can find on the vg259qm it only runs at 240Hz on HDMI but 280Hz on DisplayPort. Seems like you're giving up quite a bit there.

Shiv78 got a reaction from YoungBlade in Anything special needing to be done upgrading CPUs on Windows 10?
Make sure your BIOS version supports the 7700.
Also, keeping *irreplaceable* data on a single local drive is asking for heartbreak in the future.

Shiv78 reacted to RONOTHAN## in Making a PC for my birthday. Please tell me things I could do to make it better.
There is a lot of things you can change to make this a much better overall computer.
Don't go last gen Intel unless you're getting it for practically nothing. Even if you don't care about the heterogeneous architecture, you can disable the -E cores and still have a faster CPU than the 10850k that's lower power. If you're gonna get an AIO, get a 360mm one, that way it actually outperforms a dual tower cooler. Otherwise I'd just get a good dual tower cooler like the Scythe Fuma 2 or NH-D15. Get a faster kit of RAM Don't get a DRAMless SSD, it will be much worse than an SSD with a DRAM cache. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/D8LWXy
This should still be at budget but much much faster. If you'd rather save a bit of money, swap the CPU out for a 12600k(f) (it's still about the same multi core performance as the 10850k with much better single thread) and the cooler for a Scythe Fuma 2.

Take a look at the Phanteks P200a as well, it's a bit taller than the NR200 but almost the same footprint, and has a glass side panel and great airflow.

Shiv78 reacted to Fasauceome in What is this CPU?
yes, and customer service from these companies won't do squat. you call Asus customer support, you say "does this laptop have a quad core Ryzen 7 4800U in it?" The customer service rep looks up the spec sheet, which has the error on it, and says "yes, it says it on the spec sheet here" because customer service reps don't need to know anything about CPUs.

Shiv78 got a reaction from Daniel Z. in Free games
Valorant and Warzone are good options. As questionable as Epic Games may be, their launcher has pretty good free games every Thursday (so far I have Just Cause 4, the entire Batman Arkham collection, GTA V, a couple Asassins Creeds, and a bunch more). Rocket League will also be free to play soon on Epic Games.

If you've got a working, decent GPU now, then ideally you'd want to wait.

You already have the highest CPU that board will support.
If you want to go higher, you're better off getting a new system.

No. If you have a 7700k, the 9700k is not compatible with the board.

https://www.tweaktown.com/news/71340/understanding-the-ps5s-ssd-deep-dive-into-next-gen-storage-tech/index.html
They didn't overclock it. It's pretty much a custom SSD from everything I've read. Including the memory channels. 12 vs up to 10, but usually 8. They are designed to be faster with their hardware. It's kind of an apples to oranges thing.

Shiv78 got a reaction from Aman7 in 3300x, 3100 or wait?!
I'd go for a 3100, just make sure you get a decent mobo so you can upgrade down the line to a 4000 series or maybe even 5000 if it is supported.

Shiv78 reacted to SpookyCitrus in I need help
No, you do not need to have two drives hooked up, I don't know why the motherboard recommends that maybe they are referring to using a boot and storage drive? But it is not absolutely necessary. However, Ryzen isn't compatible with Windows Vista, you would need to upgrade the Windows Vista to Windows 10 on the computer it was originally in first then install it in the new computer. Once you get the Vista install upgraded to 10 it should work by just plugging it into the new build and making sure legacy is enabled. I would highly recommend doing a fresh install of Windows 10 and then transferring the files and documents you need over to it over upgrading the Vista install.
If the old PC that the Vista drive was in still works, hook it back up and download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to it. Run it and go through the upgrade steps. Once upgraded it will work with Ryzen as long as legacy is enabled in bios. But Ryzen itself does not support Vista so it will not work with the drive still running Windows Vista, it may try to boot but will not actually go into Windows.

Shiv78 got a reaction from AMD A10-9600P in Graphics card dilemma
There's not a ton of reviews on the MSI Ventus 1650s, but the Gaming X is one of the coolest and quietest 1650 Supers. If you can get that, go for it. The Gigabyte OC (dual-fan) 1650s is also pretty well-cooled (and cheaper, at least in the US), it's just somewhat loud with the stock fan profile which you can change using Afterburner.
The 580 8gb is also a decent option but at this point its like 4 years old
