Don't think you can do that in MSI Afterburner, and FRAPS is really easy to set up to log your min max avg FPS.

Edit: just checked, you can use the free version of FRAPS to log your FPS.

Are you looking at a fully custom water cooling solution or an all in one solution such as the Corsair H100i/H105/etc?

If the latter, there is no real maintenance once installed.  Put it in and go, no refilling, you should watch for leaks, but it's not going to be much of a problem.

For a full custom loop, check out some how-to video's.

Well you must have a stock graphics card (reference) most waterblock designers and manufacturers develop waterblock coolers for mainly the reference type. A processor block may be necessary too. Ram blocks aren't essential since ram doesn't get too hot. for motherboards at least some do need them.
A reservoir and pump is needed. Coolant, tubing and radiators too.

Check out Linus' build guide video where he does an overkill build. most of the stuff he says there applies to watercooling in general.

Leak checking time is only done on the build / test period. from time to time check if the res has still a decent amount of fluid (that's when adding a fill port is quite useful)
Every year or so, you may want to check everything again, replacing the fluid and so. Most of high quality components don't need this, but doing maintenance is always good.
Overall it takes more of your time compared to plain air cooling, cleaning a watercooled rig takes longer and it can be trickier.

What is your idea of "enthusiast grade?"

Would you not consider the Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H or Asus Z87-A enthusiast boards?  I sure would.

I get what you're saying, but IMO these $120-140 motherboards are just as "enthusiast" as the Rampage IV or Z87X-OC Force motherboards.  Sure, you may not get as many device headers, and you may miss out on 200MHz on your overclock because the power delivery isn't quite as overkill, but in the end does any of that really matter?

The pricer SKUs are made for the people who want all those bells and whistles.  The people who don't care can be smart, save some cash, and grab a board that's basic, but works just as solidly as the upper level boards.

The DCII is significantly quieter but the Toxic overclocks better because Sapphire samples the best chips for its toxic cards, similarly to what Asus does with the Matrix.

I personally think that the Toxic is not worth the extra $40 you pay over the DCII, if you have $350 to spend on graphics pony up $50 more and get an R9 290.

That MSI GTX 780 is not "almost consuming 500w when overclocked". The ENTIRE system with an overclocked SB-E 3960X overclocked to 4.7GHz is taking up to 470wAC at the wall. Taking into consideration of the fact that you are using a lower power consumption CPU and that the actual power draw that the testing setup is lower due to efficiency (PSUs are rated at DC output and not AC input), your system will be quite a bit lower than 470wDC.

A quality 550w such as a Seasonic G 550RM or Rosewill Capstone - M 550w would be plenty for your setup. The Seasonic M12II Bronze 850w would be more than enough for 780 in SLI.

dude it clearly states that THE WHOLE SYSTEM will use 470W. and that system is an i7 3960X six core OC`ed to 4.7 GHZ. thats insane.with your system with the i5 at 4.5 ghz haswell you can cut from there more than 100W.

What is true is that Elric & Linus are getting custom cooled samples from Asus next week, so expect those to arrive to market shortly after they're reviewed, which is in November.

it doesn't make any sense to price it the same or higher
