  1. I had 2x ST3000 die while in warranty , they suddenly stopped working and I could kiss my data goodbye , and it was a sudden death. I will never buy Seagate again.
  2. Well, small update with video. replaced 1x WD green 2Tb and an 3Tb SEAGATE ST3000 piece of shit. with 2 4Tb Red´s. You know you are blocking those vents with those labels right? sorry if this has been answered before
  3. this used to be more , had to reboot the system for config
  4. 1. standard 650D layout 2 .im guessing bad luck or that screw 3. I did 4. it does heat up , depends if your radiators can benefit from convection Update : So I got my 980Ti yesterday , its indeed WAAAY faster than my 980. I chose the MSI 980 Reference and I am planning to watercool this biatch again . I will run it 2-3 weeks on air to mage sure its fine . I already voided my warranty on day 1 I managed to remove the warranty sticker on the screws so if I get a non watercooling related issue with the GPU again , I will try to get my warranty. So I now need to order : 900D 1x480 rad 1x380 rad Tubing TITAN X block and backplate Bitspower fittings
  5. Good news! I got a replacement ! its an ASUS 980GTX Strix This cooler is much better than reference. but now my waterblock is incompatible...
  6. yes , but its a ground plane on that side .
  7. pump was connected to 4 Pin Molex , so the pc should be off then. also I always have coretemp running with an automated shut down when the CPU is arround 68c. Its in the same loop so it should heat up equally when pump fails , also GPU block has a lot more mass
  8. the first hours of the build I Stressed the card with Folding @ home for 4 hours, also it isnt a diode wich needs to be covered by the stock or waterblock
  9. UPDATE ! So I got a great start of my weekend! 5 Days ago I installed a custom water cooling loop with CPU and GPU, all parts are from EKWB, and worked beautifully all 5 days , Great Temps. Nothing was overclocked ! last night I left my PC on to do some steam downloads. When I woke up my PC was off . Started it and I got a big spark coming from the GPU. immediately pull out the power and start draining. And lo and behold , some diode was vaporized. So I am a bit scared... Did I do something wrong? or was it pure an unlucky GPU fault? Damn I hope they just give me a new one. and now I also need a new gpu block because they only got the STRIX cards now...
  10. I did , I dont run raid on the onboard s-ata and only on my Adaptec 32105 (its old...) the raid gets anywhere from 400-520mb per second. from the Marvell controller to my raid or another JBOD drive i get arround 120mb/s in file copy´s. Its a great little board. Running 2 VM´s on it without anny problems and Plex media server.
  11. I think and others (Ryan from PcPer) agree that 1440p and 1600p are the best desktop resolutions without the need for extreme graphic cards and scaling. I would take the ROG swift.
  12. Just replaced my motherboard and CPU with this : Asrock Asrack Avoton C2750 8 Core @ 2.4ghz Atom - Avoton 12 SATA ports on board I kept my Adaptec 32105 with 12 Ports 2 Intel Gigabit NICs with teaming support or fail over 1 IPMI management port only 3 USB 2.0...... Passive cooled went from 210watts to 130watts so its a nice improvement. I guess the PERC 5i was consuming around 30 watts Dont feel the difference in speed so that's a good thing! Running on Windows Server 2012 for now. The onboard management is great! I now have a Total of 24 ports , which is a little low. im going to get an 20+ controller soon
  13. I can also sadly confirm that those drives are crap... HGST or WD Red or dont bother!
  14. I know I used to bench all the time for an undisclosed website
  15. thanks I was thinking that.... still a dumb ass bug from MS again...
  16. so I was doing some Folding for the team and noticed when I disabled 2 threads the CPU usage did not go down. but when I selected to show individual cores in the task manager they do appear to be idle. in Cinebench I do see a difference if I disable those 2 cores : goes from 9.5 to 10.93 so that's realistic So is this a bug in the windows task manager? Cant seem to find other people who have similar problems on the internet I am Curious
  17. just had a ST3000 die on me... it died instantly . bought 2x 4TB RED as replacement. next month the other ST3000 will be replaced with a 4TB RED. so I am up to 69TB for now Also I am updating my config : Ri-vier 24bay 4U case. and a Intel Quad Port gigabit adapter.
  18. for fun , I had the motherboard and a 64 euro cpu is cool. also overclocking is fun.
  19. I run mine on 4,2ghz with 1,25v stays arround 68c with a stock cooler. cant get mine past 4,45ghz... great cpu and single threaded it beats my 5960X
