To Linus and the team: Hi! I'm a smart home technician in Spokane Washington. I have been doing this for over 5 years, and I work daily on houses like Linus'. I have some ideas for how he could make life easier on himself. Here's one: Look for smart thermostats that support remote temperature sensors. The wires to his existing thermostats would carry the temp sensor signal, and the thermostats themselves could be mounted in the mechanical room, right by the valves. This would NOT require changing valves! Even better, the Aprilaire 8501 sensor is a flush mount temp sensor that hides behind a super thin layer of drywall mud, entirely hiding it once the wall is painted. Second: I would move the amplifiers for the distributed audio zones into the server rack in the mechanical room by running sprleaker wires from the rack to the living room media center and connecting them together (essentialy, extending the wire down to the rack) I would also run wire for any speakers in the living room, and put the Reciever in the rack as well, with control handled by a controller such as Control4. I also recommend reaching out to Paradigm electronics, a Canadian speaker and amplifier manufacturer with a long history of innovation and research in sound reproduction. He or someone at paradigm might be interested in working with you. Fun fact, Paradigm and Martin Logan are sister companies, owned by the same prople. Please feel free to use me as a sounding board! I have lots of experience in the physical side of actually putting this stuff into houses, and experience on the config/programming side with Control4. I happy to share. My knowledge. ANYTHING to avoid the cringe fest that we had when Linus put speakers in his current house! Haha You can find my contact information, and information my paradigm Rep in the email I send through the LMG website. Duncan

The worst part about the new Macbook has to be the 480p camera. Like, WTF? Retina display, crazy tiered battery, and they can't even be assed to put in an HD camera??

"Our SD cards are in HD" Oh my god. Whoever came up with that needs a "get un-fired free" card. Funniest thing I've seen for weeks!

Innit to winnit! If I win one I'll probably let it sit around for months till I can buy the other components needed for a build =P

I would love to see how ARMA 2 or ARMA 3 do on a setup like this.

That's a plug, not a Jack, Linus <_<

But... But... Those WASTE SPACE. lol ....although, that's not actually a terrible idea... some of my case blockouts use pcie extenders to get the cards to lay flat, so that might just work! Edit: Did a bit of googling. Check this thread out https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236633.0. looks promising. Edit 2: here's one

According to this power calc it would! With 2 970s and a 4770K at 4.5ghz it calculated the required power at peak load to be 466 watts. Now all we need is an mITX/DTX board with 2 x16 slots. That would be an insane system... Yeah, take two of Gigabyte's short 970's, add waterblocks, do a little modding on their io, and you have 970 SLI in two slots. Then it's just a matter of building a case tiny case that has enough cooling for the cards and a 4770K! JJ, or anyone from Asus, if you're reading this, can we please have an impact with a second gpu slot?

the design of the Extreme's cooler is very interesting. It hearkens back to the early 2000's, when acrylic cases and led fans were all the rage, it hints at that styling while staying modern and attractive. I like it.

Guys... These are beyerdynamic OEM/design. I guarantee it. The earcup holder fork thing and attachment setup is identical. Digging a bit deeper, if we go to Qpad's headset page we can see that one of their headsets (QH-1339) is even manufactured by beyerdynamic, and looks to be just a t70 with a mic!

What’s the worst part of your rig?

My i3-550 bottlenecks my 670 in EVERYTHING. I even have it overclocked to 4.2 ghz, it just doesnt cut the mustard.
