  1. I figured it out. I ran the command "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal" in command prompt as administrator and downloads were back up to 600. I have no idea why I had to do this or what changed, but it worked.
  2. I came home to find my primary system only getting about 20 mbps down over ethernet when I usually get around 600mbps. Router says 600 down, all other systems say 600 down, it is literally one singular system that is having problems. I switched ethernet cables, updated my drivers, checked for windows updates etc. Moved on to the wifi card I have in the system ( it is usually disabled ), and when using wifi instead of ethernet I still only got 20mbps down. So its not in the adapters but it is definitely something on this PC. Rest of network checks out fine. This system has been up and running fine with this configuration for a long time as well, no new hardware or configs added recently. Any ideas?
  3. So my computer has had an issue for a while where ram usage slowly builds up to 100% regardless of if it is even doing anything or not. It builds up and then crashes programs and renders the computer unusable. Ive monitored and searched for programs using high amounts of ram but nothing in the processes seem to be the cause. I've done all kinds of scans for malware. Originally it was a slow not very problematic issue, it would take a very long time to fill all 16GB of my ram to the point there wasn't enough left for my programs but now it happens in about 25 minutes. I suspect if I just re-installed windows 10 it would go away but I would rather try to fix it first before I go through the hassle. System specs: 4770k@4.2GHz, 16GB DDR3 2133 Ram,GTX980ti gpu, WIN10 on samsung 840 256GB drive, a WD black 2tb HDD, a 3TB seagate barracuda HDD and a creative labs Sound Blaster Recon 3D pci-e sound card. This System is going on 4 years old and I keep it turned on most of the time. I don't know if this is maybe a hardware problem where the memory controller is going bad or anything like that. If anyone has any suggestions or experience like this, I'd like to know.
  4. Go with Intel if you want the fastest gaming performance but if you have a need for more threads for multithreaded applications go for the AMD core even though it wont be quite as fast. The AMD CPU will still do just fine.
  5. I do know that writing to an SSD does degrade the flash. I don't know if that is what affects the read speed. I have a Patriot Pyro that I have written an OS to several times after reformatting it and it does not perform nearly as good as it did in the beginning.
  6. I have an H60 in one of my systems and it has ran well for a while but recently I have been hearing a noise that sounds kind of like a grinding. It sounds like it is coming from the waterblock/pump section. Does this mean it is dying or will it go away? It still cools fine for now but I find the noise quite annoying.
  7. I always liked to take things apart and I had several radios and computers to play with. I got interested in computer hardware seriously when I was 12 or 13 but didnt have much money then, so I collected old parts and built a few systems, most of which were based upon old mpga478b motherboards and CPUs. I was 14 when I built my first computer out of new parts based upon LGA1156. I found the LinusTechTips channel on youtube and it has been quite beneficial to the growth of my knowledge of computers.
  8. I almost always do that with older sytems. At least there aren't hundreds of pins.
  9. I did that once, but it wasnt that bad, my system would run but it would shut down whenever I started any intense games. Took me several months before I realised what the issue was.
