So I recently got my first 4k 49" TV which replaced a 1080p 50" and I was not impressed by the image quality while watching normal TV. I didn't really think about how my TV provider (Charter Spectrum) only streams in 1080p or 720p (depending on the channel) until after I saw the image quality. Needless to say the 1080p to 4k upscaling or 720p to 4k for that matter is not very impressive visually.
This got me wondering to myself if 4k TVs are completely the norm or not because the only thing I know about that streams 4k is Netflix, Youtube, and other Netflix competitors I'm sure (I also think some TV providers stream a little bit of 4k as well but I'm not sure if every channel does). So are 4k TVs in yet or do these companies need time to catch up with the newly cheap 4k panels?
