  1. I watched that video and it's pretty interesting while explaining a lot. AMD's stock probably would've been a really good buy 3 years ago because their price per share was about $2 and now it's $19 a share.
  2. I'd never think that desktop performance would vary much from chip to chip as long as they were modern. Isn't the biggest thing that would change it would be your storage device?
  3. I don't have the right chipset for overclocking otherwise I would have a while ago. I had a i5 4440 a while ago and just bought one and swapped it out as an upgrade so I didn't have to buy a new mobo+ram
  4. I have been keeping my eye out for a new gaming processor for the last year or so but nothing has really caught my eye and I currently have an i7 4790k at stock. I have been happy to see Ryzen doing well targeting a productivity/budget market and creating competition for Intel. But I don't know much about processors and their architecture so I was hoping I could get some stuff cleared up for me. How doesn't AMD come close (from what I've seen) to Intel's single core performance? I am mostly talking about the 2700x and 8700k. Is it just because they aren't REALLY marketed for that specific purpose? Or do they not know how? I realize a lot of people have been saying that they will be better for gaming and are more "futureproofed" but I really haven't seen it yet (people were probably saying this 5 years ago too when the FX line was out). I play a lot of ARMA 3 and that game really loves a fast single core processor so Ryzen just isn't for me yet. I also know that the 2700x isn't a bad gaming processor but it's just a lot better at productivity things. I've considered getting the 8700k but it just isn't enough of a jump for me yet. Overall I am mainly wondering why they don't have a specific processor that tries to compete in the gaming side of things with quick single core performance. Sorry if this post is ignorant, I am happy to be informed.
  5. So I just installed Plex because I am becoming increasingly interested in using it for movies on my TV. I tested it with a video I had on my computer and it worked wonderfully. Since I am new to this what are some methods of attaining movies files so I can watch them on my TV. I’ve seen people say something about ripping Blu Ray disks (whether they rented or ready owned them). If this is a good method what Blu Ray drive should I get for my desktop that isn’t too expansive? Im also curious about any other ways if there is an easier way or something.
  6. I plugged the mic into the audio port on the motherboard and It still has background noise. The background noise on the motherboard port sounds different from the usb card though.
  7. Because my onboard port won’t get the mic loud enough
  8. So I have the Massdrop Minimic on my headset (a not as popular alternative to ModMic) and I’ve been using it now for a while at it sounds decent for a headset microphone. I only have had one problem with it and it’s the background noise the microphone has. I am surprised more games don’t have voice chat that has things like background noise removal like Discord has (or even Windows itself). Is there any way to remove background noise in a microphone with a program live or any hardware solutions? I already have the mic plugged into a cheap external sound card I got off of Amazon. Thanks
  9. Yes, I have 1.8 hours on it and I am thinking about refunding it. Like you've said, I've seen it cheaper at $24 and I might wait for one more content update (I think they said they're doing more). So if I can get it cheaper in the Halloween, Fall, or Winter Steam sale with more content then that's a win-win for me. I like how you say that you think $35 for a game is expensive. Reminds me of a video I watched regarding if the longtime-standard $60 game price should be increased due to inflation. And I thought that idea was dumb and it made me laugh because they really don't need to be close to that expensive. In the last several years I've also had to think long and hard about spending even a mere $30 when I used to spend $60 (+ DLC usually) on games left and right with no thought back in my Xbox days. Nowadays there are so many games that have so much more value than a generic $60 game. But anyway, I can't remember the last time I spent $60 on a game just due to so many more options out there that are cheaper and have more hours you can get out of it. Being on PC and having Steam sales also helped me get used to low game prices. I get they may be expensive to develop usually but there are ways to make games that are fun and not that expensive to develop. Even EA is starting to catch on with where the consumers' minds are starting to head as they're boasting a $60 price tag on BF5 which includes all DLC and such.
  10. Not at all Edit: Also depending on which 1070ti you are getting, you should look at some 1080 prices as last I checked they're not much more expensive and sometimes cheaper
  11. You change perspective by going into the quick toolbar with x and then to settings where you change player perspective fyi if you play it in the future
  12. I've been hearing about No Man's Sky since its release and we all know how that went. But I have still been very lightly following their progress with content patches for their game and people are saying now that this game has finally gotten to a point where they're saying this is how it should've been on launch (1.0). I am impressed with the studio for sticking to their product and improving it rather than taking the money and abandoning it. Definitely a good shot at redeeming positive PR. I see now they've come out with a new content patch, the game is half off, and it has peaked at 97k concurrent players on Steam. Is it worth a buy now?
  13. Ever since getting older I now do not understand the point of cheating in any game. I know this has been said a lot but It takes the fun out of it for other players and most importantly, yourself. With cheating, you lose all sense of player progression and feeling of self-worth on a video game. On a game like CS:GO or Dota that is everything that made those games fun for me. But I guess if you're younger and immature it might be more amusing Just my opinion on it
  14. Ever since I was little, like a lot of people, I have been using a PC (keyboard) to type things (obviously). I have never considered myself a fast or accurate typer because I never really learned the proper way to type (I want to get faster). I think the proper way is to put your index fingers on F and J keys but I have never done this. I don't know exactly what people who type like me are called (I think there's a name) but I like to skip around my keyboard and keep the hands in awkward spots not really utilizing all my fingers (mostly my index and middle fingers because I guess it's what I got used to). But moving on from explaining my position, what I am trying to ask is if it's worth it to re-learn how I type the proper way to get quicker or type how I ready do but practice to get quicker at pressing keys. With either decision how should I go about practicing typing to get quicker?
  15. Was looking to build a new pc now for a while and was aiming for a budget of $2000 CAD and ended up going over. Even though I went over I think I am pleased with the parts I selected and how it will look. Just making this to see if I should switch anything out of that sort. 16. So do you think that maybe their Surface Book meets a better criteria as a 2 in 1 tablet versus the Surface Pro and Go?
  17. So I have been looking for a 2 in 1 laptop (I understand it's more of a tablet) for a while now for just regular use things like media and school. I just saw the Surface Go on Best Buy and I believe it has just come out recently. The price really is what has intrigued me the most from this device. 19. You should be running most games perfectly fine with a 1070ti at 1080p or even 1440p
  20. I'd probably get the HD6XX since I like Sennheiser. So would I need an amplifier if I got a pair of headphones like those? Are these type of headphones good for gaming?
  21. Do you have any suggestions for under $250
  22. I am looking to improve my audio for my headphones but I don't know if my headphones (Sennheiser HD 558) can even take advantage of an amplifier. I am looking for something that is under $100 and will obviously improve my headphone audio quality. Thanks
  23. So I have been looking for a smart watch for a while now. I got the Apple Watch 1 a few years back and didn’t like it and returned it. I am just really looking for a watch that can receive notifications on it and has a circular design preferably. I would like something priced south of 200 dollars.
  24. Hey I was also wondering if right now is a good time to buy a laptop or not. Because I was wondering if some new technology like the 11 series from nvidia is coming soon or like the one Intel mini pc that has the gpu and cpu on the same chip that will make its way into newer laptops
