  1. I'll take a look at that, might have to use the Linux option if HFS+ doesn't read SD cards, thanks for the assist on this though. No one has anything that really covers removable media transfers like this and it was definitely a new jump for me.
  2. Ok I posted a forum about this once already and people kinda took it the wrong way. My point was not to talk about hackintosh's in general I just wanted help with reading apple media with my windows PC which I am struggling very much so with. For reference I am trying to pull an apple operating system file off of an SD card from my family member with a windows pc. Does anyone have any programs I could use to do this, preferably free because I'm a broke college student. P.S. Before a mod blocks this thread too I am aware hackintosh discussion is banned (even though LTT has covered making a hackintosh which makes it ironic they don't allow the discussion of something they themselves have done) however all I need is some help on reading apple files with a windows system, matter of fact this would be an issue I'd have anyways if I'd just purchased an apple. Long story short how do you read apple files off of SD cards and flash drives when all you have are windows based systems
  3. Ok so to explain this whole scenario I am attempting a hackintosh project, I've never done a hackintosh but I had a spare pc and wanted to mess with apple's OS since I haven't in forever. So I contacted a family member with enough apple products you'd swear he has an addiction and asked him for a copy of the OS, he sent it over and I hit a big snag, the only systems I own are windows 10 based pcs, I have no way to pull the data off the SD card. Windows wants to format it and the internet so far is not providing any assistance. If anyone has any advice they can offer or assistance they can provide it'd go a long way. Known knowledge: 1. I cannot boot off the SD card (for anyone who suggests) 2. I do not have an apple system to use for pulling the data from the chip 3. windows will not allow me to convert the file into something readable unless I format the SD card 4. Formatting will lose the data and I will be back to square one (this is the only copy of apple's OS I own and I'd rather not ask for another) So with all this in mind.... help.
  4. Ok so I built a computer last year, 400 bucks pretty cheap to fit my needs and I am using the AMD am3+ socket type (yeah yeah intel master race I just prefer AMD's performance and price personally) so when I went shopping to start I found a cheap gigabyte motherboard that supported my needs and a pcie 2.0x16 video card which happened to be a 2gb card from MSI which i THOUGHT would suit my gaming needs for a little while anyways... since im typing this you can cleary tell it didnt. So I started shopping for 4gb graphics cards preferably with Nvidia hardware around the 200-300 dollar range (im working off a very tight budget) for 2.0x16... I find litterally nothing, I find no cards I would trust inside my system with a 2.0x16 socket type let alone anything under 3.0 minimum so I change tactics and search for 3.0 socket motherboards and find a few but that was almost four months ago, coming back to my issue all my previous boards are just flat gone (links lead to nothing) and I can barely find mention of the 3.0x16 socket type on a motherboard for my cpu (which I do NOT have the money to replace [its an 8 core anyways and barely a year old so i shouldnt need to regardless]) and so I turn to you all's infinite wisdom. LTT is the group that inspired my first custom built system and now I ask for help, I need an AMD am3+ socket typed motherboard with pcie 3.0 - 3.0x16 and an nvidia card with 4gb of graphics (for 2.0x16 or 3.0x16, its really just what you find) for roughly three hundred dollars or less. And to round it off no Im not being stingy three hundred is litterally my entire budget for this upgrade, I have money going into better peripherals that I simply cant ignore any longer and if I dont upgrade to at least 4gb soon (2.0 or 3.0 I dont care at this point) im not going to get another chance until four years from now when I'll have once more saved up enough. Thats about it. sorry I was so long winded
