Ashiella got a reaction from masterchicken in I5-7600k not reaching speeds I set in bios
The b250 series boards arent supposed to be able to overclock if I recall correctly. You need a z270 board.

I would recommend against that board, it's pretty dogshit if I understand correctly. As well I would get an NVME + an SSD, since the NVME is cheaper and faster. Or a NVME + HDD Combo. And I would recommend a 5700XT over the VII.

My NH-D14 was running 2 noctua(obviously) fans at 1000rpm and was pretty close to my H100i v2 when I had it. But it was a bitch to install and unless you get a coverplate its gonna look ugly.

I would've probably gone with air coolers if were going for longevity. I've owned 2 corsair AIO's and both broke within 1-2 years.

Ashiella reacted to GDRRiley in Should you buy a $50 CPU??
I think the R5 1600AF deserved a mention at 85$.
2666 or maybe 2800 should be a reasonable memory speed. there is plenty of cheap 2666 sticks

LN2 overclocking the cheapest cpu

Ashiella got a reaction from TopHatProductions115 in First 100% fresh build
Pretty much all manufacturers use the same chips from the same 3 companies. The odd one out is OLOy, which has been sketchy, some users got DOA units and OLOy left them in the dirt as far as warranty. Any other manufac should be fine.

If you can find a Lite-on EP2 1TB for sub $80, I'd probably get one of those, I'm using one right now. 256gb toshiba MLC chips, PLP, 2300MB/s reads, 940MB/s writes, not the fastest but definitely not bad.

Ashiella got a reaction from Ben17 in What is a thing that a first time pc builder should know?
Shit doesnt break as easy as you think. (Exception: CPU/Motherboard pins)
Honestly, I'd probably troll my friends irl and say they're probably going to break something if they touch it the wrong way.

Ashiella got a reaction from Chunchunmaru_ in My computer is running games in poor quality even though I just upgraded.
Thanks for explaining this every single time someone mentions bottleneck, but just gonna add that its almost impossible to have a colloquial error over text, but you've somehow managed. at 900-1080p in most games, the 2700x will not allow the 2070 to run at 100% because it can't keep up. We all know thats what he meant. I hope..

Ashiella reacted to Enderman in Should I finally go to Windows 10?
Yeah that's cause windows 10 actually told you about all the stuff they take which made some people mistakenly think they hadn't been taking it already.
You shouldn't do the upgrade process, that will likely break your OS sooner or later.
Just do a clean install.
If you have windows 7 right now you can use a key finder to get your windows 7 key and activate windows 10 with it.

Like how PhysX was handled, except for PhysX isnt used much anymore.

Ashiella got a reaction from BTGbullseye in How to tell if a CPU will be a benchmark, before buying
Any cpu that can handle 1080p144 can probably handle 1440p144 just fine, it just depends on gpu. My 1080 can handle most games at 120-144+ fps at medium-high settings.

"Always balance your system." inb4 3900x gtx 1080

Ashiella reacted to Jurrunio in Would my CPU bottleneck a GTX 1070?
That's arguable. You could make games run on shitty GPUs by turning down the graphical settings (even back to PS1 era graphics if you wish so), but there's not that much you could do if the CPU isn't good, even tho the 7500 should be better than that
what games?
I'd argue that the performance gap between the two GPUs aren't worth it for the long run, I'd look for 1070ti or Vega 56 in the used market.

Ashiella got a reaction from Spotty in IS 3950X Solid for single streaming and gaming pc
Lets just skimp over the fact that most encoders arent super efficient after 16 threads, and a few wont use more than 16 at all. ( While I'm saying this, vp9 without AVX2 support will hardly use 8 )
