Ashiella got a reaction from RevGAM in I7-7700k temps
Those temperatures will degrade his cpu quite a bit if kept there for prolonged periods

Ashiella reacted to BuckGup in AMD starts selling Playstation 5 APU
No issues will arise because that's not what a defective chip means. It's not the wild west and they will turn off the defective portions. It's what all of Intels lineup is. An i5 is a defective i7 which is now a i9 and so on. But now since we are seeing chiplet designs yields are high enough that they don't need to do this anymore.

Ashiella reacted to Rocketdog2112 in Sprite spilled on Computer Tower (has fan on top, inside of case).
It looks like the only item(s) you have not replaced is the ram which is located directly under the fan and could of very possibly shorted out internally from the soda bath.
It is possible for faulty ram to cause blue/black screen, along with other start up issues.

Ashiella reacted to Moonzy in When selling used PC parts like CPU's and GPU's, should sellers be required to post benchmarks showing they aren't burnt out?
no, i dont
care to explain? they either work or they dont, they dont lose 30% performance due to changes in silicon

Ashiella got a reaction from Levent in When selling used PC parts like CPU's and GPU's, should sellers be required to post benchmarks showing they aren't burnt out?
No point.
Performance will mostly not degrade by more than 5% unless there is hard artifacting on the card lol, this mainly depends on thermals though, if the thermal paste hasnt be re-applied after years and years, after a while the card will run warmer and not clock as high. Also thermal cycling is what mainly causes degradation. The only difference with buying a new vs used card, mining or not is how long it could last. Pretty much everything made these days would last 10 years or more if treated right, so if a miner uses it for 2, you got around 8 left, but after a couple more years it'll be outdated enough to swap out anyway.

One person really should not hold that much wealth that is just insane.

Ashiella got a reaction from Warin in Compress video to fit on 1.44 MB floppy disk
128x72 12fps AV1, 6kbps, it literally wont encode lower.
mono channel Opus 6kbps, it literally wont encode lower.
I'm not 100% sure on if there is a better video codec, but this is the best audio codec, and its smallest size is 1.04MB.
Floppy f.opus

This is the smallest video possible.
Floppy.mkv

Ashiella got a reaction from whm1974 in Compress video to fit on 1.44 MB floppy disk
Send the source, I'll send an attempt back.
I'd suggest something like 240p20fps AV1

Ashiella got a reaction from MarvintheParrot in Can i get away cheaper?
I use Vulcan ram, have been using it for around 3 years or so. Pretty good ram, life time warranty too!

You don't need thermal paste.
TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 16GB Kit (378kr)
stay with that motherboard.

Ashiella got a reaction from Mateyyy in Powerful workstation for computational tasks: i9-10980XE + 2x 3080
No real workloads care about SLI, at most NVLink if you have the top end cards and you have a very specific case. Most just support mGpu with any of the same cards (Same gen nvidia for example), it just makes the cpu split the workload for it, thats why it also likely needs to be fast (clockspeeds?) This is just speculation from the ai work I do sometimes.

Before jumping onto the usual "gEt AmD" train, have you specifically researched that your software works better with Intel HEDT? For instance, if it can leverage AVX-512?
Regarding the GPU side of things, I'm assuming your workload(s) don't require the GPUs to run in SLI, right? Since the 3080s do not support that functionality.

Ashiella got a reaction from Nucleargamer12 in 3900x Thermal Paste Application Method
I mean, my 3900x is always too fucking hot for no reason. Even with an NH-D14 class cooler, the method to thermal paste application doesnt really matter much unless its a REALLY big chip. ie threadripper

Ashiella reacted to TetraSky in Can i use insurance instead of warranty? Protectyourbubble?
"We expect you to take reasonable precautions to..."
Sounds to me like they would fight tooth and nail to not pay you a single cent if you do try to make a claim. What is "reasonable precaution" ? How will they know?
IMO, insurances like these are basically a scam and only for people who have more money than brain. For the price they charge, in 2 and a half years you'll have paid twice as much for your phone and could've just bought a new one right then and there instead. Take care of your device and you won't need insurance. Seriously. Don't throw it. Don't use it without a grip case since glass is slippery. And don't be stupid. It's not hard.
If you just want theft protection, usually home insurance will also include some sort of coverage for gadgets.

Turn settings down, look up a settings guide for modern warfare, close anything else in the background.
The game uses about 5.5-7GB of ram for me, but I have 32GB I guess its just ram hungry like chrome is.
Rust uses like 12-14GB of ram for me, same with minecraft

Ashiella reacted to Radium_Angel in High memory consumption(Warzone)
A brief glance around the web reveals the game pretty much demands 16GB of RAM for smooth gameplay...
