While setting up a new Wifi router from my ISP to fix our internet problems (New is a Ubee somethingorother, old one is some Technicolor, they both look fairly similar) Once I started playing with the wireless bandwidth settings, setting 2.4ghz to 40mhz and 5ghz to 80mhz, I started getting a headache. I didnt think anything of it at first, but I found it weird that my speakers got interference now (Slowly went away). I went to the kitchen to grab some food and the headache went away. When walking closer to my room, the headache grew again. I could be paranoid and this could all be a coincidence but I find it strange. What do you guys think?

Unplug the router to see if the headache goes away? Could be a barely audible frequency noise causing symptoms. I doubt the actual radio waves are causing it...not at that frequency and transmission power of consumer routers.

Some people do claim to be affected (feeling ill) by WiFi signals.

Probably try turning down the power if you can. Enough to cover the house reliably would be fine.

@Razor Blade I have experienced this before, mainly when I'm at the grocery store entrance, the frequency they use for the birds is audible and gives me a headache. I also get headaches from higher frequencies than I can hear.

@DildorTheDecent I cant disable 5ghz, and I cant lower the power.

    Unlock your router.

Do a Google and see if it can be done.

@Ashiella If you're able to confirm that it is your router, I would highly recommend bringing it up to your doctor the next time you're in for a visit. you could try to move your router in a closet or a room where you won't be temporarily.

Is your router emitting noise? Is your network using a router+modem combo? Just curious...

Can you set them back to whatever they were at stock?

I have just swapped the router back to the old one. Headache is gone.

Quite possibly the new router causing it, then ?
