So after buying the combo, it overheating, requesting a partial refund, getting $15 off for horrid thermal paste application, so a total of $85 spent, trading the i7 930 +$5 for an L5639, undervolting it from 1.1875 to 1.05 and overclocking to 2.79Ghz, with a max temp of 76C on and a score of 660 on cinebench with the stock cooler, I don't think this is too bad for $90 in total. Upgrading cooler and buying it a new gpu or something soon. I miss the old hardware climbing days..

so that overclocked xeon is better than the i7? but that i7 clocks to 3.06ghz...

@firelighter487 But the xeon has 2 more cores, 4 more threads, and doesnt throttle to below stock frequency.

oh my bad, i google'd L5639, and it came up with L5630. oops.

also, i can't find the L5639, even on intels website... are you sure the name is correct?

@firelighter487 Yep, Intel Xeon L5639 it's a LP design. It's on wikipedia when you look at LP Hexa-core xeons for 1366 but not on intels website.

oh okay, i saw it. 6 core's at your overclocked to 2.79 ghz... nice.

i've got a dual X5650 system, per cpu it has 6 core's at 2.66, with a turbo boost to 3.06, but that turbo speed is not for all core's active.

so if i had 1 cpu it would be pretty similar.

@firelighter487 Yeah, im restricted by the cooler atm, so im working on getting a better one along with more ram.

NZXT accepted my full refund for my X370 board that unexpectedly broke for $100, so things are kinda going my way atm.
